So many design choices when you are renovating and adding a new addition to an 1883 constructed building. Originally built as a Canadian Pacific Railway Freight Shed my husband purchased & moved it to its current location in 1994. Where it has served as his contractor/carpenter shop since. . Being a utilitarian structure from the start .. hello freight shed ... there is no sweeping oak staircases, glorious trims, antique accents to enhance. But our girl has soul & a long history with Virden & the surrounding area. We are going to do her up right. Hence the choice of Sherwin Williams stains. Charwood was the obvious winner to meld together the 1994 installed green siding & the repurposed tin of the store addition. Not to mention the spiff beams of the farmhouse style front porch. On the bench today ... Christmas 2024 ...? vintage inspired .. prairie artist ... modern farmhouse .. old school techniques. Who knows? I am only showing you the back but the front is tres cool. . You can use your imagination & upcycle just about anything. I have a compulsive attention to detail, frankly don't care what anyone else is doing, never know what I am going to mess with when I go to create b/c things just make themselves. 🤣 . Yes I have hand applied & buffed out three coats of wax, drilled out these stars, & then old school riveted something to them. Why ... really 🤣 .. why not? Each one will be one of a kind & s per usual I am only doing them up in small batches. . FYI -I have had the Czech glass beads I am going to use with them for ~15 years & you can not get the exact same ones currently. . If we get our store done in time ... but who knows b/c my talented & smart carpenter ♥️hubby is building it between other jobs ... we will have these lovelies available for purchase. .
