Long time no talk! We know 🥴 What a year it has been! 😜  
  
As many of you know, we started Dough Joy in May, and what started as a little food truck, has become all time consuming as we grow it into a full fledged business. We couldn’t be more thankful for your support, and to be given the chance to meet so many incredible people each day. Our Capitol Hill shop is slated to open SOON! Exact date is up in the air, but we’re working hard to get it open. Follow us on for all the latest updates including when the truck reopens! 🎉  
  
For those of you who don’t know the inception of Outbound Herbivore, it all started in 2018 when we traveled to London, Amsterdam, Paris, Luzern (Switzerland), and Venice. We went searching for the best vegan finds. [See photos in carousel!] We posted our favorite discoveries to share with you! 👍🏻 
  
When Dough Joy took over, we put Outbound Herbivore on the back burner. We just published the last issue [for now!] of Seattle’s only vegan magazine, Outbound Herbivore magazine, as well [snag our last copy - outboundherbivore.com]. Christopher also realized he is celiac [can’t handle any gluten cross contamination!], which is why he’s so excited to create GF donut options at Dough Joy. Since we can’t eat out together as easily anymore, our content has definitely slowed down, and COVID didn’t help when it comes to restaurants and traveling either! 😞  
  
As we approach the end of the year, we want to know what YOU want to see more of and where we should go next. Our time is limited, so we want to spend the time we have doing what we love while also enriching your lives and providing value to your vegan journey. 🙏🏻

PLEASE NOTE: El Borracho and Shelter Lounge are 21+ for dining. But both locations will have candy at the front door and will have takeout available.⁣

All restaurants will be stocked with vegan candy but limited supplies means they may run out later in the evening.⁣

Tofuevos Racheros 🤤 Tasty breakfast from Wayward Vegan Cafe! 🌱 A crunchy tostada covered with seasoned tofu scrambled with peppers, onions, and black beans. Topped off with fire-roasted enchilada sauce, avocado, and cheddar cheese sauce. Served with home fries. 🔥

VEGAN Philly Cheesesteak from King Philly Cheesesteak! 🤤 YAAAS! ✨ Heard about this place a while ago and finally got to try it. Never had a Philly cheesesteak before but I must say this was damn good! And very filling! 🙌🏻 Must try! 🌱

OMG OMG OMG 😱 Peloton Seattle is fire! 🔥 Check out The USA aka Hot Mess 🤤 Lightlife vegan breakfast patty, hash brown, vegan aioli, JUST vegan egg, and vegan cheddar cheese slices topped with crispy onions and BBQ sauce on sourdough. ✨ MUST try this! Literally one of the best breakfast sammys I’ve had and that’s saying A LOT! 🤣

Since we’re in Portland and saw that Sweet Creatures ice cream was having a popup, we HAD to go! 🤤 

Check out this incredible ice cream taco with Blue Moon and Chocolate Ice Cream, crumbled Newman Os, and marshmallows. I DREAM of this stuff! ✨ 

Droolworthy! If you can catch them when you’re in Portland, highly recommend it! 🙌🏻

Life on Mars is one of those spots we don’t go to often, but when we do, we always enjoy it! 😍 Check out this BBQ Jackmac Wrap with tender jackfruit, mac and cheese, jicama carrot slaw, jalapeno aioli, crispy fried onions, mixed greens in a grilled tortilla. 🤤 Yum, yum, yum! ✨ Fully vegan with many tasty menu options such as their Jackfruit Carnitas Tacos and Cauliflower Wings as well. 🌱🙌🏻

Based on Port Orchard, they will be joining us on Saturday July 24 from 9a-12p at the Dough Joy truck in Ballard to serve up their delicious GF & VEGAN donuts to for you in Seattle! 🙌🏻⁣

Made in a gluten free kitchen, Dudes Donuts are celiac safe and they have some incredible flavors! From Strawberry Lemon Vanilla, to Choco Churro and Samoa, you will love this incredible company. ✨⁣

Donuts will be walkup only on Saturday the 24th with limited quantities! Be sure to arrive early to get your picks! ✨

As an LGBTQ couple, we are SO PROUD to be q***r. The community has welcomed and embraced us, and we feel so much love, but we realize that not everyone is as fortunate as we are. ❗️El Borracho UPDATE! ❗️We sat down with to talk about their reopening as 100% plant-based 🌱 and learned about some of the new food that will be on their menu. 🌮 🌯 🍹 SPOILERS AHEAD!

What we can share now is that the Pike Place location will be opening 6/23 and the Ballard location will be opening 6/24! This will be a soft opening so please be patient while they navigate reopening and the new menu.  
  
Speaking of the menu, we got an early look at all the new items and there are some really exciting things!  
  
You can order burritos, burrito bowls, and tacos with these options:  
  
Jackfruit Conchinita Pibil  
Chipotle Potato with Queso & Crispy Jalapeño  
Al Pastor  
Carne Asada  
Chikn Tinga  
  
There’s also nachos on their menu with the above options plus other options like Tajin-Dusted Shrymp and Tex-Mex Style Impossible Burger.  
  
And maybe the most delicious new addition is the Norito Tostada. A Nacho Cheese Dorito inspired hard tortilla packed with flavor and topped with refried beans, queso fresco, pico de gallo, lettuce, red chili sauce, chipotle sour cream, and cilantro.  
  
Of course they will still have delicious drinks like different flavors of margaritas. The Cheapo margarita is now pink! Some of the new vegan cocktail additions include a Dirty Horchata and a vegan Bakon Caesar that uses vegan bacon flavored vodka, fysh sauce, vegan Worcestershire, tomato juice, and more.  
  
PLUS they are planning on reopening the Tacoma location as 100% plant-based late summer or fall. 🎊   
  
There’s plenty of other new items on their menu we didn’t mention so make sure to go check them out once they open to see everything new. Hope you all are as excited as we are! 😆

Vegan Korean Bibimbap 🤤
in Everett is serving up some delicious bibimbap with vegan options like vegan beef, vegan chicken, and jackfruit Bulgogi. And their kitchen is 100% gluten free. 🚫🌾You can order to go or eat there and have it served in a hot stone bowl and have the food come out sizzling! There are tons of toppings to choose from and the owners are very knowledgeable about celiac and vegan food. Best of all they have vegan milkshakes and soft serve! This raspberry milkshake was the thickest vegan milkshake we’ve had. If you are up north or want to get out for a little drive make sure to try them. ❤️🍚

Got this delicious gluten free tofu teriyaki from and it was so good! Hangry Panda is super conscious about gluten cross contamination for those of us with celiac and has dedicated gluten free fryers and prep area for gluten free foods. Plus the tofu was perfectly crispy! Make sure to check them out or pick some up for your celiac friend. 🌾 🚫

Wayward Vegan Cafe was on the menu this morning! 😍 First time trying the Tofuevos Rancheros and don’t regret it! ✨ A crunchy tostada covered with seasoned tofu scrambled with peppers, onions, and black beans. Topped off with fire-roasted enchilada sauce, avocado, and cheddar cheese sauce. Served with home fries and I added some of my own hot sauce to spice it up. 🤤

After a longggg but very exciting Saturday with our Dough Joy grand opening, we were so hungry and this Mandarin Crispy Tofu from Teapot Vegetarian HIT THE SPOT. ✨ While we are fans of many restaurants, there is something about this that is so special and unique and I genuinely look forward to it every time! 😋 A must try!
