Friends, Kat and I are super excited about this landing net class that begins next week. At first when we listed the class I was like, wow, beautiful build, awesome skills to build but I have no use for a landing net??!! And then I realized I know two fisherpeople who I’d love to gift something for Christmas!! They’d love this! Kat had the same process…so we’ll both be there! The class still has a few more openings and we’re pretty solid that someone else will realize they want to take this class with Mike! Check out the website for registration!

Meet Mike Pemberton! Mike is an artist, contractor, angler, climber and a super kind human. We're really excited to have him in our community and to have him teaching a class for us is some icing on the cake! Many of us non-anglers are really excited to take this class and gift these gorgeous landing nets to the anglers in our lives while we learn the skill of bent lamination. Double win! We hope you'll join us!

Thank you for coming out to check out the shop and celebrate our 5th Birthday! It was such a great (exhausting) day! We had a great turn out! 50+ people stopped by throughout the day and brought their moms, dads, brothers, partners, neighbors and friends. Old friends/members came all the way from Portland and current member volunteers helped us out Immensely!! Wood burning and hand planing were all the rage and our new sign looks beautiful! (We never made the pic big table😬).

The bonfire was so chill and the chili was FIERY! Happy Birthday Highland Woodshop! I’m so grateful for this community and for so many opportunities to !!!

We got to team up with today and host a Mason bee house making class. Aren’t they cute?!

These little native pollinators come out in early spring, when honey bees are still hibernating, and pollinate your early flowering orchard. They nearly doubled our fruit yield the first year we added them to our homestead!

This project is near and dear to my heart because my friend and neighbor, Jerry Paul started a Mason Bee hosting program through , spending countless hours installing bee houses and cleaning out thousands of cocoons every fall. He passed away last July and so did his program. We’re hoping to pick up a small portion of his baton by hosting these classes as well as community hive cleanings for anyone to attend. We depend on our bee populations y’all. Here’s to you Jerry, who knew that so very well!

Bonnie shared photos with us that she finished the bathroom vanity—and an entire DIY bathroom remodel.

She said "I splurged on Blum push-to-open drawer slides and hinges, which was an experience in itself to build drawers and install them. I am definitely not a cabinet maker, and have a lot of respect for tilers! Happy and relieved to be done, and now just waiting on the glass to be installed!

I know I’ll look back at this and go “how the hell did I do that?!” But that time isn’t now. 😀 "

We love seeing our members finished projects! Thanks for sharing Bonnie.

We hope this inspires you to take on the project that you have been wanting to do at home. Come check out the shop, we have a open house on October 5th. Link in bio.
The first month of membership is now half off!

Nat’s attention to and patience for detail blows
My mind. Actually, I don’t think Nat has patience for detail, I think he thrives on it. His workmanship is to be outdone by none. Truly. Check out this beautiful custom chest he made for a client. 😍

Meet Mason, a woodshop member who just finished this bench rehab project for a client. The client wanted us to “offer this job to a student who needs something to learn on!” And Mason was up for the gig. Mason LOVES hands on creative projects and did a fabulous job learning new skills on this baby! He worked with the customer to choose the design and wanted to do beautiful work! You did Mason! You did beautiful work!

Mallory is building a beautiful coffee table of Hickory. She comes in pretty much every Wednesday night to work on it. She’s filling this gnarly looking knot with epoxy in which the final layer will be colored gold with this powder she picked up from . I’m excited to see that in the final project!

Had a great time teaching this private lesson of intro to power tools! These folks run a doggie day care in Dallas and wanted to learn how to make dog jumping platforms! We had a blast learning circular saws, jig saws, drills, the right screws to use. They left with all the basics to be able to make these at home.
