From around 35, we slowly lose calcium from our bones. Losing oestrogen during menopause increases the rate of loss, which can increase the risk of osteoporosis.
One of the ways you can keep your bones healthy is to look at your diet and nutrition.
Consider swapping some of your go-to snacks for a more balanced and healthy diet such as calcium-rich foods like yoghurt, tofu and leafy green vegetables.
Top up your vitamin D levels with fish, eggs or fortified cereals.
Look to reduce your alcohol intake and stop smoking.
Our bone health resource is available in our resources - go check it out!

It’s National Nutrition Month. Did you know that making changes to your diet and lifestyle can help manage the symptoms of menopause?
Follow these tips from The British Nutrition Foundation:
Make sure you are eating a healthy, varied diet including plenty of fruits, vegetables, wholegrains, calcium-rich foods and low-fat dairy products.
Consider unsaturated fats as a nutritious food source such as olive oil, and limit your intake of fatty or processed meats, refined grains, sugar-sweetened foods and beverages.
Limit your caffeine and alcohol intake and aim to be physically active for at least 150 minutes a week.

Have you heard about the Government’s Response to Menopause in the Workplace Report?
It isn't all doom and gloom as we might be led to believe, and actually there are some recommendations that they are fully behind as well as have policies underway and in the pipeline.
However, the Women and Equality Committee do make some very fair points in the rebuttle.
What do you think?
The Government's Response to Menopause in the Workplace Report The Government’s response rejects five of the Committee’s recommendations outright, including the recommendation to consult on making menopause a protected characteristic under the Equality Act 2010 and pilot a specific menopause leave policy within the workplace.
