*FOSTERED IN MOBILE, AL*
**FENCE REQUIRED**

Is this the world/s biggest snugglebum pup? We think he may be!

Say hello to Zeusy Blue, aka Zeus, an approximately 18-month-old Dane-AmStaff mix blue velvet-coated pup. Like so many of his kind, he is one seriously people-oriented boy.

Zeus is the last of a group of four litters from a former BYB operation that NWFLGDR helped to close down by getting all the other pups onsite altered and into rescue programs and transports north, and altering all the breeding adults. He is 3/4 Dane and 100% heart.

Because of the conditions that he grew up in outdoors, he is initially unsure of new situations and people. He warms up very quickly to both, though, if he is given a little space at first. He has quickly learned that loading up in the truck means going to fun new places on adventures and looks forward to car rides.

Zeus is extremely well-behaved and eager to please! He walks well on a leash but requires a martingale collar that he cannot back out of. Zeus has done well with all other dogs upon careful introductions that give him time and space. He can exhibit some fearful behavior but quickly moves past it if he isn't pushed or rushed. This is how he approaches all new situations, and he has not failed to do well in any situation that he has been put into when using this method of gaining his comfort.

Zeus is used to living around lots of other dogs in pens. He now lives in a foster home with multiple great dane males, a lab mix male, and even cats! He is great with all after proper intros. He has even been respectful of the cat in his foster home, as well as of the outside TnR cats.

Zeus has not been around kids in foster care, and we feel he would be fine in a dane savvy home with older children who understand dog dynamics.

Zeus absolutely adores snuggle time on the couch with his foster dad. The Dane DNA is strong in this one... Could you be his new fulltime snuggle buddy?

Zeus is currently undergoing slow kill for his heartworms, treatment which will conclude around June 15th. He is neutered, current on his vaccinations and is microchipped. His adoption fee is $400.

To apply to adopt Zeus, please go to www.nwflgdr.com/adopt to read over the adoption requirements before applying.

**FOSTERED IN DOTHAN AL** **FENCE REQUIRED**

Introducing Willow, a 3.5 yr old petite fawnequin Dane!

Timid in nature at first, Willow previously lived with a single female owner who was all she ever knew, so transitioning to a large foster family with lots of people and other animals was a big change for her. After proper decompression time, she's doing splendidly now.

Willow is currently living with a family with three teenage aged girls. Timid in nature at first, once she gets to know and trust you she is a very happy, playful, and obedient girl. Her humans are her people. She loves to walk up and rest her head on her humans’ shoulder, it’s how she shows affection.

Willow has a little separation anxiety which includes whining/crying in her crate, but is not destructive. She would do best with a calm homebody, not with anyone gone long hours every day or with frequent stranger traffic in and out.

Young kids can be too unpredictable for her, they make her nervous. She would do best in a home free of children 12 or less, if any at all.

She currently lives in a home with a male Dane, female Dane, and a red Heeler. Willow can be very awkward around other dogs and will require a lengthy introduction process. She’s way more focused on humans. She’s not one to play much or interact with the other dogs. After a few weeks of integration she’s definitely settled in with the male dane and female heeler, but she and the other female dane both compete for queen diva of the household.. Blending her with a multi-dog family will take time, patience, and experience. But give her the space and time she needs to decompress and figure out her new routine, and she will come around eventually. We promise. It just takes patience.

She also shared her yard with chickens, goats, donkeys and sheep and has ignored them.

Willow is a true Velcro Dane. She is a very sweet and affectionate girl. Willow is obedient to basic commands such as sit, lay, and stay. She is crate-trained and potty-trained.

She currently sleeps in the bed with her humans and is very content all night. Willow is the cleanest water drinker and makes zero mess, which is an unusual Dane characteristic.

Willow’s current hobbies are snuggling on the couch, playing with her stuffed animal, and roped toys. She doesn’t counter surf nor does she chew.

Willow is looking for her forever home, will you be her person?

Willow has been spayed, microchipped and fully vaccinated. Her adoption fee is $350. To read over the adoption requirements before applying please go to www.nwflgdr.com/adopt.

PLEASE NOTE: NWFLGDR does not transport. All approved adopters are required to pick up the dog in person from his/her foster parent city.

Its time for another Happy Tails!

This is Boss. He and his brother came into rescue last October. While his brother was adopted rather quickly, Boss patiently waited for his people to find him.

Carter and Camila recently opened up their hearts and home to Boss and I think its safe to say he is finally home!

Well done Boss!

Meet Winnie!

Winnie is a beautiful 5 year old blue Great Dane being fostered in Gulf Breeze, Florida with a young family, 3 children and two other Great Danes. Her foster family has a busy home that Winnie has adjusted to easily.

Winnie has a heart of gold and LOVES to give kisses and snuggle her people. Many new faces have come into Winnie's life since being fostered and she is always very friendly and excited to have someone new to love on her.

Winnie is left to roam the house (never crated or gated) and is not destructive and does not pay any mind to food left out. Toys are Winnie's favorite thing and she loves taking every single toy out of her toy basket and she has so much fun just playing with herself! Winnie also enjoys outdoor play with toys, she is just a puppy at heart!

Winnie has been good with other dogs. Since entering a new pack, Winnie has at times tried to assert dominance where it is not needed and she has learned very quickly that there are rewards for behaving and that it's okay to wait her turn.

Winnie enjoys being outside and is very playful on a leash. She is currently being walked with a gentle leader to slow down her pace. Winnie is gentle around young children and a good listener, she also has great recall.

Think you could be Winnie's furever family?

Winnie is spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $350.

To read over our adoption requirements and fill out an adoption application on Winnie, please go to www.nwflgdr.com/adopt.

Please note: NWFLGDR does not transport. All approved adopters are required to pick up the dog in person from his or her foster parent’s home.

Meet Beckham!

Rescued alongside his brother Beckett from the side of a highway in Tallahassee, Beckham and his brother spent some time in the Tallahassee city jail (shelter) before making their getaway escape into NWFLGDR .

This fawn Great Dane, just two years young, exudes a quiet loyalty in every stride.

Currently in a foster home in Gulf Breeze, Beckham lives amidst a bustling family with two young children and two fellow Great Dane companions. Labeled by his foster mom as a "Velcro dog," Beckham's desire for closeness knows no bounds—he's happiest when snuggled up on the couch, draped over his beloved humans.

Though he displays separation anxiety at times when circling the couch and pacing, Beckham finds solace in his crate, where he retreats when his humans venture out. However, he's a different dog on a leash, relishing walks and exploring his surroundings with gusto.

While he may not be the social butterfly of the dog world, Beckham tolerates his furry companions and displays a hint of jealousy when attention veers elsewhere. Nevertheless, he's never aggressive, just insistent on reclaiming his spotlight and squeezing in between human and dog.

Beckham's affection extends to humans of all ages, with a soft spot for kids between 10 and 14. Although initially reserved, he warms up quickly, shedding his initial shyness for a more confident demeanor.

With each wag of his tail, Beckham's journey towards recovery and happiness progresses. Gaining weight and confidence, he's a testament to resilience and the transformative power of love.

Beckham’s fully vaccinated, neutered, and micro chipped. His adoption fee is $400. To read over the adoption requirements before applying to adopt, please go to www.nwflgdr.com/adopt.

Please note: NWFLGDR does not transport. All approved adopters are required to pick up the dog in person from his or her foster parent.

**FENCE REQUIRED** ***FOSTERED IN MILTON, FL***

Meet Pixie!

Pixie is not just your ordinary Great Dane – she's a stunning 2.5-year-old dane with a personality as unique as her coat color. This sweet, but timid, light fawn/chocolate/blue merle dane girl is shy when it comes to humans, but she's an absolute social butterfly among her furry friends.

Pixie came into rescue after having been bounced around in several homes in her short life already. We know she's previously lived with kids and cats too. But she's been bounced around a lot. Because of this, Pixie has learned to rely on the comfort and company of other dogs, they play a crucial role in helping her adjust to new environments. She's never met a dog she didn't like, and she learns from them how to trust and navigate her surroundings.

Pixie is currently living in foster care with four other large-breed dogs. Though it took her some time to warm up to her foster dads, Alex and Zach, Pixie has made remarkable progress over the past couple of months. She loves her snuggle time on the couch with Alex (the Dane DNA is strong in this one) and she now seeks Zach out for affection, especially when there's food involved! Speaking of food, Pixie is a big fan!! Treats are her love language, and she's more than willing to work for them (or just sneak them off your plate if you're not paying attention...)

Pixie isn't a huge fan of people grabbing for her neck or collar. It spooks her, and she tends to bolt when she's scared. For this reason, she absolutely will require a privacy fence. She would likely do best in a household without really young kids and a lot of random foot traffic in and out. Even with a fenced in yard at her foster dads' house, it took her a while to gather up the courage to come back inside the house after running around and playing with the pack. But eventually treats won out.. Did we mention she loves treats?

Pixie is crate trained and potty trained and decent on leash. She actively seeks out her crate when she is tired and wants a break from play time. While Pixie may not be the type of Dane you can easily take to events, breweries, or dog parks, she's content being a homebody girl. New people make her nervous, so she's happiest in familiar surroundings with her trusted family by her side.

Pixie is ready to find a family who will cherish her unique personality and provide the guidance she needs to thrive. She needs a person/family with lots of patience and understanding, willing to continue her training and trust, so she'll blossom into a loyal companion who adores cuddle sessions on the couch and zooming around the yard with her four-legged pals.

If you're a Dane-savvy adopter who's ready to welcome a beautiful girl into your heart and home, Pixie could be the perfect match for you.

Pixie is spayed, current on vaccinations, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $350. To read over NWFLGDR's adoption requirements before applying, go to www.nwflgdr.com/adopt.

Please note: NWFLGDR does not transport. All approved adopters are required to pick up the dane in person from his/her foster parents.

Here we go again...

🚨 INCOMING EMERGENCY MEDICAL INTAKE 🚨

Meet Scooby, a 1-year-old Great Dane who has known nothing but neglect. We just pulled him from the Orange County shelter in Orlando —the same shelter where we rescued Bessie last week.

Scooby weighs only 46 pounds.

Scooby needs an urgent refeeding program in isolation, along with round-the-clock veterinary care. His blood values show he's life-threateningly anemic. We're worried about his organ functions.

Here’s what we know: Scooby was seized along with a male boxer from the same home. He was found on the brink of death, abandoned in a filthy, f***s- and urine-infested crate in the backyard of a home in Orlando. The boxer managed to escape his crate and roam the neighborhood for a week, which led concerned neighbors to alert animal control that the homeowners didn't seem to be home.

Thank God that boxer got loose and that the officers checked the backyard too. If not, both dogs would have died of dehydration/starvation. Thankfully, animal control stepped in and confiscated him just in time, but the shelter environment has taken its toll.

Despite their best efforts, Scooby has contracted an upper respiratory virus during his week-long stay at OCAS— just like Bessie, whose virus developed into pneumonia. In a shelter housing 500+ animals, this is unavoidable.

Right now, Scooby is en route from Orlando to our vet in Panama City—Critter Care of Panama City.

⚠️ We weren’t expecting this emergency intake request last night, but how could we say no to that emaciated face? Scooby needs us—he needs you—now.

If you can help us provide Scooby with the care he so desperately needs, please donate:

***REQUIRES A FENCE***
**FOSTERED IN TALLAHASSEE, FL**

Luna is gorgeous, energetic 4.5 year old fawn who is equally affectionate, happy, mischievous and playful. Don’t let her premature greying face fool you..this girl has plenty of s***k left!

She’s currently living with two male Danes and a male pug who help hold her attention. She and Beckley, the youngest dane, love to romp and play and are two peas in a pod! However Beckley is very submissive and allows Luna to be the diva! Luna is also good with cats and small dogs, has been around them and done fine.

Her foster mom writes:

“Luna is all Dane. All girl. And all energy lol. All the time! She LOVES to play and LOVES to snuggle.

She is a typical young Dane so when bored she can get herself into trouble, as she loves to dig and chew… She would be fine as an only dog with a proper outlet for her energy or would definitely do best in a home with another playful, submissive large breed canine to help hold her attention and keep her out of trouble!

Luna loves walks and is amazingly good on a leash. She is crate trained and potty trained.

Luna was surrendered to the rescue for digging out of or scaling the fence and chasing neighborhood horses, though she’s so superglued to me I can't imagine her daring to leave my side. Now, I can imagine she could easily become an escape artist if left alone outside and bored......which is exactly why she should never be alone outside. She requires a fence because of her prior history and she loves to run and play with Beckley in our yard.

She’s totally Velcro and has some possessive moments with the other dogs at times, but minds well when told no. Luna would benefit from a Dane savy owner who is able to identify these behaviors and nip them in the bud!

She loves dog toys and treats and is easily redirected when chewing on things she shouldn't be.

All in all, Luna is a young Dane who needs someone who is going to put in the time and energy into her continued training and allow her to expend her energy daily.

She craves canine companionship and would do best with an active couple or family with age appropriate children, who are dane savvy and will be willing to work on discipline and manners and forgiving when she gets into trouble... In return, we promise you’ll have an amazingly loyal, affectionate and playful girl for life.

Luna is fully vaccinated, spayed and microchipped. She is currently in a foster home in Tallahassee, FL. Out of respect for our foster family's time and privacy, we do NOT arrange meet and greets without an approved application on file.

Luna's adoption fee is $350. If you're interested in adopting please go to www.nwflgdr.com/adopt to read over our adoption coverage areas and requirements before applying.

PLEASE NOTE: NWFLGDR does not transport. NWFLGDR requires all approved adopters to travel to the foster home to meet and pick up the dog in person. Should the adoption not work out, it is the responsibility of the adopter to travel to bring the dog back to his/her foster parent.

We love getting updates like this! It is what keeps us going because let's face it..rescue isn't always pretty!

This is Bruno (fka Zane) and his mom writes:

I wanted to give a one year pupdate for Bruno. He celebrated his 1 year gotcha day on July 30th. Bruno has been a great addition to the family and he has calmed down alot within the past year. Exercise and a consistent routine have turned him into a calm and relaxed dog with his evening zoomies and occasional pillow stealing:)

His sister Minnie took a couple of weeks warming up to him but now she has bonded fully with him. Thank you so much for entrusting me with this beautiful dog that I love so much and could not imagine my family without him.

**FOSTERED IN TALLAHASSEE**

Scarlett is a 7 yo Dane who came to us as a severely underweight stray out of Orange County, Florida. Like her namesake, this very hungry girl has promised to “never go hungry again!” Scarlett has truly become belle of the ball as she has regained her beautiful figure and is running the foster household with beauty and “grace”.

Scarlett has an old injury to her back right leg that someone at one time took great care to fix. Her femur has a full rod and 15 pins. Her leg looks a bit crooked but hasn’t caused her any pain and she is lightning fast chasing the squirrels in the backyard. We’ve had it evaluated by an orthopedic vet specialist who says it looks good but may cause her pain occasionally.

Scarlett is extremely loving and just the right amount of playful. She loves being close to a human. Scarlett loves to go on walks and be out and about in town. She currently uses a harness and has done well on an afternoon out at the local brewery.

Scarlett is great in the house. She is crate trained, but does well on the pet bed, couch or your bed at night. Because she is determined to not go hungry, she has tried to check out whatever is on the counter when she is left alone. So, keeping the counters clear is a must when her foster mom is away.

Scarlett is scared of thunderstorms and will stick to her human like glue. She will come her Thundershirt and may need some medicinal help from time to time.

She currently lives with an elderly female Dane, a male Dane and a lab/staffy mix. Scarlett is also good with cats although one of the resident cats likes to engage her in a good game of chase from time to time. She comes with some basic training for sit, down and place. Stay is still a bit of a problem as she follows foster mom everywhere. Scarlett will do well in a home with other dogs as long as they understand that she is a bit of a diva. We don’t know how she will be around small children, but isn’t extremely high energy. She loves her human's affection.

Scarlett is spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped, and on routine heartworm prevention. Her adoption fee is $300. To read over the adoption requirements and apply to adopt Scarlett, please go to www.nwflgdr.com/adopt.

PLEASE NOTE: NWFLGDR does not transport. All approved adopters are required to pick up the dane in person from his/her foster home.

Jacksonville and surrounding areas.....

Does anyone recognize this Dane?

Finder/poster states: He is underweight but his coat isn’t in terrible shape - nails look managed pretty well too - having trouble getting him to eat, didn’t even really eat bacon.

**FENCE REQUIRED**

Meet Rooster!

Rooster is a stunning 8-month-old blue Great Dane with an inquisitive nature and zest for life! This gorgeous boy is looking for his forever home, and he has so much love to give.

Rooster is fantastic with dogs of all sizes, both male and female. He thrives in the company of his furry friends and loves playing tug of war and fetch. He’s the fastest in the pack when it comes to racing for toys! Rooster is also great with kids, although he might try to sneak a snack from a little one’s hand or give them a friendly face lick.

Rooster is a chill guy who enjoys lounging around, but he does have bursts of playful energy. A game of fetch or a nice walk will keep him happy and healthy. He is potty trained and loves his crate, which is his safe haven when he’s alone. Give him a Kong with a treat inside, and he’s content for hours.

This sweet boy is excellent on a leash but could use a bit more practice to avoid zig-zagging. He’s great around cats and shows no interest in them, but he can’t resist the urge to chase squirrels. Rooster would thrive in a home with a fenced yard where he can safely bask in the sun and play to his heart’s content.

Rooster loves his toys and will play fetch endlessly. He’s a water enthusiast who enjoys playing in the sprinkler or even hopping in the shower with you. When it’s time to relax, he’ll sit on the couch just like a person. Rooster “talks” when he has something to say, adding to his adorable charm.

While Rooster knows how to sit, he would benefit from additional training to curb his boredom-induced destructiveness. He’s never been alone for long periods and would do best in a home where he receives plenty of attention or has a companion.

Rooster is a sweet, loving boy who just wants to be adored. If you’re looking for a loyal and playful companion, Rooster is the perfect addition to your family. Are you ready to give this gentle giant the loving home he deserves?

Contact us to meet Rooster and see if he’s the perfect match for your family!

Rooster is fully vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped. His adoption fee is $400. To read over our adoption requirements before applying to adopt, please go to www.nwflgdr.com/adopt.

Please note: NWFLGDR does not transport. All approved adopters are required to pick up the dane in person from his/her foster parent.

***REQUIRES A FENCED IN YARD***

Apollo is a 9 year old male Great Dane with a strikingly beautiful harlequin coat.

Apollo is a….
People lover…
People hugger….
People leaner….
People pleaser….
To summarize, Apollo's joy revolves around his people….and meeting new people too! If you are full grown with hands, a lap to sit on, or legs to lean on then Apollo will love you too!

Apollo enjoys piles of pillows, couches of comfort, beds with best friends, rolling in the grass, and basking in the sunshine of your love - the real sun too! Apollo firmly believes people food snacks are the BEST, cats are strange but they make good sleeping partners, quiet spots are the nicest, and bathrooms are the absolute BEST place for hugs!

Apollo deals with a bit of anxiety but is not destructive. Taking Prozac twice daily and having a quiet, safe spot so he can self-soothe when he needs to greatly benefits him. Loud parties or extra lively humans can be unsettling for Apollo though, so we will not be adopting him to anyone with young kids under 12. No exceptions.

Apollo prefers his home environment - although he loves to get his leash on and go for walks, he is always ready to get home and burrow in the pillows for a nice snooze.

Apollo is in a foster home with a single lady, her brother, 3 cats, a very chill dane sister (Penny) and the love of his life, a young rambunctious Dane girl Kealey. Apollo requires methodical muzzled introductions with fellow canines - he has fear-based reactivity. Once he accepts and knows the dog isn't a threat then all is A-ok. Apollo would do best in a household as the only dog OR as evidenced with Penny and Kealey he will do well with another low-no dominant behavior dog.

Apollo loves to play! He and Kealey play often as she is quite the instigator. He plays hard, is extremely vocal and his dominant behaviors come on VERY strong, intimidating most dogs potentially causing a reaction in a less than rock solid dog. Apollo needs to know his human is in control and he can trust the other dog. Apollo is NOT, and never will be, a dog park dog. He will need a strong leader to show him everything is ok. He looks to his people for reassurance and feeds off of their emotions. He is such a sensitive soul.

Apollo is really looking for someone who will allow him to live out his remaining years in peace and quiet without a lot of hustle and bustle traffic and/or competition for attention and love - he's such a loving, loyal companion he deserves that. Could you the one?

He is neutered, fully vaccinated and microchipped. Apollo is on 1x daily carprofen and 1x daily gabapentin for suspected age related arthritis.

Apollo’s adoption fee is $300.00. To apply to adopt Apollo please go to www.nwflgdr.com/adopt. There you can read over our adoption requirements and process before applying.

Notice: NWFLGDR does not transport. All approved adopters must agree to travel to pick up the dane in person from his or for foster parent.

Rescue never stops.

Meet Nora. She’s been running around a remote area in north Leon County called Norias Plantation (hence the name Nora) near Tallahassee for the last month, with people posting picture sightings of her on the lost found pet pages taken from their vehicles, but never able to get close to her.

Thanks to Gabrielle Pessin and her friend Kelby, who’ve been going out daily to track her and try to feed her, she was finally captured late last night. She finally gave in and gave up.

She is exhausted and starving. She is covered in ticks and fleas and fly bites. The ticks are having a field day on her open ear wounds from the flies. It’s obvious that she’s been on her own for a very long time.

It’s also obvious she’s been a momma many times over. Her b***s hang looow and her v***a has practically fallen out of her. Her milk has dried up though, so no recent pups left behind in the woods. (In case you’re worried)

She’s resting now and has eaten two small meals tonight. She is so tired but so sweet and so calm and wants love so badly. You can clearly see she’s relieved to no longer be on the run.

She doesn’t understand it yet but she just hit the jackpot.

We will be getting her seen by our vet asap. She is really in terrible shape. She’s going to be full of parasites and I fully expect her to be heartworm positive too. Hoping no tick borne diseases…

We were not expecting this emergency intake last night, but we’re not about to let Nora down. She’s been nothing but used and abused and let down her entire existence. Well that ends tonight.
