Our Story
Photo: Granddawg Shadow (RIP 02/17), my inspiration for Sarge, and my doxie Duke (RIP 07/17), who is introduced in I AM DACHSHUND, Book 2
I initially wrote The Dachshund Escapades books for my grandchildren to acquaint them with their great grandpa, Robert “Papa” Duke (my dad), who passed away before they were born. But others urged me to publish Sarge’s stories for dog lovers everywhere, so I did. Written from the viewpoint of Sarge the doxie, he was inspired by my first doxie granddawg Shadow (RIP 02/17). Much of the content of Sarge’s tales really happened, and the characters in the books are based on my family and friends. Papa Duke loved to tell stories, and he had such zany things happen around him that they are well worth reading! Dog lovers of all ages also enjoy Sarge’s shenanigans and his doggie insight. And my doxie Duke (RIP 07/17), became Sarge’s protege in Book 2.
