Art Institute Classmates
I am close to being finished with my diploma course in Web Design. 2 more classes and I will graduate. Then it is off to a diploma course in Internet Sales which will aid me in promoting my ArtBasicsCourse.com. That will be in time for my retirement from public school teaching. I have learned a lot about web design and development and made numerous changes to ArtBasicsCourse.com. I love web designing and I love teaching art so they will go together well.
Good luck to all my classmates that are adding social media feeds on their sites for this weeks assignment.

Revisions 2
I took Rachael’s suggestions to add color to the background. I must say this is something I probably wouldn’t have done on my own. But, because of the suggestion I tried it out and I like it. Thanks Rachael! I was afraid that there wouldn’t be enough contrast between the graphics, text, and background but, by keeping the palette in the background as a soft grayscale gradient I feel that it adds a nice buffer between the layers of color.
I like the first one in the upper left corner the Linear Gradient in Yellow, Red, and Blue. It allows the mixing of the yellow and red to create a mellow orange and mixing of the red and blue for a nice soft purple.

Revisions 1
I made the suggested changes.
Eliminated text. I personally liked the originals better because I like the information that was included but I like the simplicity and crispness of the new ones. So, I believe they will both have their various uses.
I know we were supposed to select one of the images from the gray-scale thumbnails but I wanted to try out the two different backgrounds now that I've eliminated text. I personally like the paint tube wallpaper in the top two but the bottom two are also nice. Again, I can see a use for both backgrounds.
I already know I will use Primary Colors because I've always used primary's for my logo. I just have to choose the right background for this poster.

Milestone 5 – Task 2
Color Thumbnails
3/20/17
I am so very pleased with my work today. I choose the more conventional of the achromatic thumbnails to add color to.
I first chose the achromatic color scheme for the first one. I always like having a good grayscale copy for printing on a Zerox type copier or to use in a newspaper ad.
The second color scheme I chose is the triadic using the primary colors of yellow, red, and blue. I like this color scheme the best for my business Art Basics Course. The primary colors are the basic colors and are the building blocks for all other colors.
The third color scheme I chose is analogous using red, violet, and blue which are also the violet color family. I changed the main text color to white and grays to achieve a harmonious feel to the subtler tones of the darker value hues. It’s nice but it doesn’t really fit the personality of my Art Basics Course.
The final color scheme I chose is the warm color scheme using yellow, orange, and red. This has a nice bright feeling but it’s still not the one that best represents Art Basics Course.
I didn’t have any problems with this task. I had the day off from work (school) and decided since I was going to have a very busy week that I would take advantage of the time and get this assignment done even before critique was complete on the task 1. I can make all the revisions I need to with this one.

My Career Education Update

Update on my newest venture into Web Design through the Art Institute Pittsburgh Online.

I’m in my second 5-week course. This one is Design Fundamentals. Of course, I teach design fundamentals but it is paper and pencil. With the new classes I am taking I am learning Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. So, for me the assignments are more about experimenting with the tools and effects of these two powerful programs. I have been enjoying them until this week when I burnt out the processor of my hp laptop which I use at work and to do my homework on when I’m away from home and my big screen pc. So, I got a new laptop and got back to work.
This is an example of my first projects using illustrator. The lesson was on Positive and Negative Shapes using only black and white.

The next lesson was about Balance – Symmetrical and Asymmetrical. I used Photoshop for these designs.

This week’s lesson was about Texture, Depth, and Volume. I used Photoshop for these projects.

Check back next week for the latest update.
