Here we go again! Oslo has been asked to return to Envision for their alumni program, this year, he will attend Villanova University for 6 days, learning how to create an oxygen chamber for a life pod, to sustain life on Mars.

Oslo will be selling raffle tickets again this year for a long weekend on Flathead Lake. If you would like a ticket, comment below or send us a message! He can then call you personally, if you would like, to give you all the details. We will be drawing for the winner on July 18th.

Thank you to everyone who supported him last year and to everyone willing to do it again!

“Envision Alumni will deepen their exposure to STEM careers through real-world, hands-on experiences at NYLF Explore STEM Alumni. Over six impactful days on the campus of Villanova University, students will explore new career opportunities, gain increased confidence and leadership skills, and take the next step in their "Mission to Mars" by working toward "Colonizing the Red Planet."”

There are many challenges to sustaining human life on Mars, whether it be the scarcity of natural resources, the wild fluctuations in temperature, or the lack of magnetosphere. However, there is no challenge greater to maintaining a colony on Mars than overcoming the limited amount of oxygen in the Martian atmosphere. During this engaging simulation, which spans the entirety of the forum, students will enjoy guided activities and access to the Maker Centers as they work together to create solutions to combatting an atmosphere that is 96% carbon dioxide.

While the NYLF Explore STEM program took place exclusively on each program location, the alumni program provides students with four unique experiences that allow them to interact with subject matter experts and gain exposure to emerging STEM fields.

Students enjoy a site visit experience with Dr. David Lee, a pioneer in robotic surgery at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, who will discuss robotic medical technology and cases he has worked on.
At the Villanova Immersive Studies Cave, students will be immersed in 3D virtual reality worlds, including the landscape of the Red Planet, and get an inside look at how these worlds are created.
Students tour a greenhouse and telescope observatory and hear from Edward Guinan, PhD and Scott Engle, PhD, two scientists who are discovering which plants might be best suited to grow on the red planet.
At Villanova’s Structural Engineering Teaching & Research Laboratory, students will take part in a hands-on approach to learning about different building materials when they make AND break concrete cylinders.

To help assist students with their simulation, they will have access to Maker Centers, which will provide them with the means to design and test their prototypes. Each day, they will move their prototype closer to completion, before presenting their final product on the next-to-last day of the program.

Oslo Stenberg to Take Part in Envision’s
NYLF Explore STEM

Malta, MT – This summer, Oslo Stenberg from Malta MT will join outstanding middle school students from across the nation to take part in a unique academic and career oriented development experience, Envision’s NYLF Explore STEM in Boston, MA.

NYLF Explore STEM is one of the Envision by WorldStrides family of programs (www.envisionexperience.com) that enable students to explore their interests and experience learning beyond the classroom.

Oslo was nominated by his 5th grade school counselor Mrs. Handley. Oslo loves all things science and his cousins call him the human Google. He loves to travel and meet people as well as learn about new cultures and traditions. Oslo hopes to find a career in the sciences, but hasn’t decided between Paleontology or Marine Biology.

“As an alumna of Envision myself, I am excited for Oslo Stenberg to meet, work, and collaborate with other high-aspiring students from across the country,” said Amanda Freitag Thomas, SVP for Envision. “Hands down, my favorite part of attending an Envision program was being with motivated students in an environment designed to help us challenge our assumptions, meet new people, and grow. Creating that same learning environment is a central focus for all of our programs. At NYLF Explore STEM, students build the confidence and skills needed to excel in high school, college, and the workplace. They learn how to adapt to and communicate in new situations, to new challenges, and with new people, which, given how rapidly the world is changing due to technology and innovation, are essential skills for success.”

For over 35 years, Envision by WorldStrides has empowered extraordinary students to become their best selves through programs that enable them to discover their passion, explore a career, and positively impact their world. In 2018, Envision became part of the WorldStrides family. The largest provider of educational travel and experiences in the United States, WorldStrides works with over 50,000 educators each year to help more than 550,000 students see the world—and themselves—in new ways.

Envision | Experiential Learning, Career & Leadership, Summer Academics and College Readiness Programs Envision is a leading experiential education organization offering students the opportunity to explore their career and life interests while providing them with the leadership development skills and real-world experiences needed to succeed in today’s competitive college and career landscape. Hi guys! I’m just doing a quick update. Oslo ended up getting double pneumonia so he hasn’t been out making the rounds to sell tickets in person, hopefully by next week he will feel up to it. In the meantime, if you would like one, you can message me. Also, if you would like him to reach out when he is feeling better, please let us know! Thanks for your awesome support!

Oslo has been selected to represent Malta at a national STEM (science, technology, engineering and Math) program in Boston this Summer. He is selling raffle tickets to help pay for the program and travel costs. He is raffling off a 4-night Winter weekend getaway at a beautiful lake house located right on the shore of Flathead Lake. The tickets cost $50, but he is only selling 400 of them, first come first serve. He accepts cash or check, and we are hoping to set up Venmo. Send him a message on here if you are interested!!!
