SD Welding
Mobile welding, repair, pipe, fence, gate, and structural service based in Valley County, ID.
These boys....and a couple ladies, put in a ton of work on this job. Not many pictures due to legal reasons at this plant, but it definitely helped grow the experience levels with me. I've worked for a lot of companies as a pipefitter, stick welder, combo welder, Foreman, etc. But this was the first time on a job as a superintendent, and I can't say enough about the group that I got to work with. What started with a small handful of rig welders and labor hands, got up to about 64 people and still wasn't enough for the client. Meetings, CAD, inspections, pneumatic testing, working with numerous other construction companies, 100 hour weeks, that company put my brain through the ringer. But I learned a ton that I can carry over to future jobs with SD Welding. We've got experience in many different avenues that every company I've worked for has helped get us to. And now we can bring that experience to you and your project.
P.S.- These pictures don't show a dent that the crew on this job put in. Obviously due to not being able to post too many pics. But I will always give credit where it's due, and the welders, fitters and helpers on that job were a great group and I'm glad I got the opportunity to work for them rather than them working for me. Being a leader means supporting the people doing the work. Giving them direction and assistance so that they can bring an idea to life. And they tackled anything that got thrown at them.
Another power plant shutdown for Colorado Springs Utilities.
When the majority of the maintenance crew at a 50 year old power plant drags up, and you get a call to run a small crew to patchwork the plant together in -37° temps. Sprinkler pipes busting, staircases freezing, outer shell of ductwork completely rusted and falling apart. That was a fun one.
Helped out another contractor for a few days on some pipe fence. Wind didn't cooperate for a while but when he finished up it looked amazing.
Work done for a subcontractor under TIC for a full Natural Gas Power Plant build at the base of Pikes Peak. Colorado Springs Utilities was ready to decommission the Martin Drake coal fired power plant and setup 6 temporary natural gas generators until a new site could be obtained and setup to take on the load lost by shutting down the coal burners. This was almost a year long project. Requirements were ASME B31.1 Power Piping combo welded carbon, with an ER80SD-2 TIG root and hot pass, with a low hydrogen stick weld out, as well as 304 stainless steel, to keep the internals of the pipe clean for the gas and oil systems. Everything from 16" down to ½" carbon and stainless piping.
Worked with another welding contractor to help repair a section of underground pipe for a pivot.
A 20" natural gas line for Xcel Energy, and a 24" oil pump station re-pipe for Tallgrass Energy we got to help with a couple years back.
Small natural gas header for Summit Utilities, a little underground perma-pipe for a mechanical upgrade at Steamboat Middle School, and some rooftop piping for a Northrop Grumman facility.
Small mechanical room build, and steam and condensate pipe replacement for the U.S. Air Force Academy High School, and the Colorado School for the Deaf and Blind.
Full mechanical build for an Aerospace company in Southern Colorado. This was a brand new build, 4 story facility with multiple systems. 100% hydro tested, 5% xray, all welds done on site.
