every once in a while, things are OK. I had a rough week, but seeing my little Freya peacefully sleeping makes everything better.

This NC family thought it had lost its pet to Helene. 'Miracle cat' had other plans Nan Collins thought her cat, Blanco, was gone forever when he was swept away by flood waters during Tropical Storm Helene. But he came home.

Dood’s had a rough ride lately. He had a seriously dreadful molar that had to go. The surgery to remove it took 45 minutes. On top of that, Dood had a suspicious mass under his left front leg. That had to go too. It was an additional 45 min procedure. Dood has been wiped out for the past week, but he’s finally starting to perk up. The pathology came back yesterday and thankfully, it’s a benign Tricoblastoma. I’m hopeful. He is through the worst of it now and we can focus on getting his thyroid balanced.

Cats=0, Mouse=1. This guy was in the pantry. I saw him in there twice. The nerve! I just ew his future looked bleak because I’ve got great mousers so I found a humane option. This is my smallest trapping success. I released him into the woods where he scrambled into a hole under an oak tree.

Last night, I had the extreme honor of being able to view the northern lights from about 7 PM to 1:30 AM. The entire time the sky was filled with bubbling, twisting color. It waxed and waned, but it never left the sky completely. I saw color, not only in the north and north east but in the west and south as well. The only reason I stopped when I did was I shot over 820 photos, it was very bitter cold, and I was so exhausted I could not take another photo. I can’t believe I got to a point where I hoped the colors would fade out so I wouldn’t feel bad going home. Apparently, they continued on most of the night. Hopefully with some rest, I will be able to get out there again tonight. What a thrill to see, the lights near home. The colors were dazzling. Magical.

What a night! Aurora is wild tonight even showing up here in Connecticut. She may come out yet again. Hope clouds stay at bay awhile longer. 💖

Dood’s 13 now. He’s got a significant drop to his gait on his left front leg and weakness in his front right. Got x-rays done today. No clear reason for this. Trying a few things including slowly reducing his food intake to get a bit of weight off him. He’s my baby. I hate to see him suffer.

The fact that I got Pistachio, his sister Catshew, and Mia in the same shot is amazing enough, but the fact that Mia, who has terminal lung cancer, is still with us, is a true miracle. She’s eating well and playing! I’m not taking this for granted. Meet my nighttime crew !

Anyone in Georgia with a kind heart who would gives this poor girl a loving home for what time she has left?

I come to you all tonight, with a very special request. This sweet girl is Cowbella. She has been at CCHS for many years. She is 9 years old, and has been diagnosed with cancer. She certainly has a home with us , no matter what. But, we want something more than the shelter, for what may be what time is left for her. We don't think she's suffering or in pain, and she's still eating and using her litterbox...we just don't believe is ready to give up. But she's slow and she sleeps a lot. We are looking for a very special hospice home for her...somewhere that she can rest and not be surrounded by dozens of cats and barking dogs in the background. The hustle and bustle of the shelter is not what she needs now. She needs quiet, love, and attention. I need anyone interested to go through our normal adoption process, but the adoption fee will certainly be waived.
