BULLDOGS
As mentioned in a prior post we have changed the name to the to the given through your .
Over the past few weeks we have been discussing this and having shared our thoughts with his family. They responded in kind. Here is what was written by the family, with additions made afterwards that they requested and agreed upon.
From Sue Sayler and Linda Sayler-Rappach:
Our father, Carl Sayler, was an avid Lakeview Bulldogs fan and through the years you would see him and our mother at the games cheering the team on. This would lead to their involvement in the Bulldog Booster Club and Lakeview Band Boosters for many years.
When he was approached to start announcing for the halftime band shows, he eagerly accepted. The bands run on was first implemented during his first season as announcer. His enthusiasm, as the band ran on to the field, generated so much excitement for the band from students, parents and all the fans alike.
This was not his only contribution to Lakeview and Cortland. With his now popular voice in the community he announced the Cortland Street Fair Parade, organized the 4th of July Picnic in Bazetta, and was on the committee that brought and built Imagination Station to the area.
His love for Lakeview, ever so strong, led to his running for and being elected to the Lakeview Board of Education. He remained a Board member for years after all his children had graduated from Lakeview High School.
Carl Sayler, our father, was a Bulldog until the day he died and even after. His choice to have donations made towards the LBAA Scholarship at the time of his death, led to the first annual LBAA Scholarship. All of us, his family, are touched that the LBAA Board wants to honor our father by naming the scholarship after him.
BULLDOGS

3. Dave Planitz has volunteered to be part of our selection committee for the scholarship and he is now part of this committee.
4. We had a great Street fair and with that we are maintaining what we have done this past year with a 2nd $500.00 scholarship to go along with the current $500.00 Scholarship.
All these measures passed unanimously.
Thanks BULLDOGS.
Hey Bulldogs!!!
A week has passed since the Street Fair and we, the Board, have some exciting news coming next week. We will be meeting on Sunday to discuss and make some decisions for this coming year and next years scholarship.
Let's just say was a great success as we had so many stop by to see what we had to offer, so many interactions with classmates from years gone by, and donations towards the .
We are waiting for cooler weather to get a good look at past yearbooks so please be patient with this process. Our School Superintendent, Mrs. Handrych, is a wonderful person and a great leader and communicator. She sees us growing and is looking forward to a fantastic relationship with us. The same can be said for the Guidance Department and many others in the High School.
Keep up with what's going on and if you need anything that we can possibly help with, give us a shout.
Bulldogs, Bulldogs, Bulldogs!!! What a fantastic weekend the Street Fair has been. Each and every day was solid and you came through. The volunteers at the tent, those who put it together, all who stopped to share stories, those who browse the yearbooks, then all who donated for the 50/50 raffle and other items, and those who put a donation towards the scholarship because it is what Bulldogs do.
Thank you from the LBAA Board and Committee Chairs, it was you who made this weekend a success, we just watched it happen.
For those that came to the tour, it was wonderful to see the excitement as you strolled the hallways recalling special moments in your days at Lakeview High School. Superintendent Ashley Handrych was as excited as we were and she is such an asset to Lakeview. A special thank you to her for her generosity in giving her time and commitment to the school.
BULLDOGS ALLUMNI are the BEST!!
Our commitment to transparency continues as we share our intake from the fair. The winners will be posted later though most have been contacted.
$610.00 cash including raffle and donations and purchases
$2400.00 donations
$205.00 online sales
$3215.00 total cash deposits after all expenses. $550.00 in payouts for 50/50 and other expenses were taken from cash raised during the fair. $3765.00 would be the gross amount brought in for this weekend. Another $200.00 was donated by the Board and Committee to help defray some initial start up costs.
Thank you again for your generous giving.
If you are wondering WHY we do this? Here is the why, graduating seniors. Here is this year's crop, including the 2 awarded scholarships this year, with all the other new alumni celebrating graduation.
The other photos are previous award winners. One photo has Bob Wilson, former Superintendent, another with Larry Sherer, while he was a member of the School Board. Both having made great contributions helping us move forward as an association. Dani Scherer is pictured with Lynda in another photo as well. The Afghan shown is given to the students or a student. It was made by Lynda Couch. She has made another as a prize for a drawing at the fair this year.
When you see our tent, stop in, look for your classmates from years past and meet other alumni. Get your friends to come, gather, mingle, share life stories, make new friends, but most of all make plans to stay in touch. Those are the reasons behind our LBAA. BULLDOG Pride!!!
If you are able to purchase something to support the students please know all proceeds go toward the scholarship, with some for expenses. Make an "In Memoriam" donation as many others have in the past for our "gone too soon" classmates.
We are having a 50/50 raffle, a spin wheel for some prizes, and who knows what else. I can answer that. T-shirts, cups, tumblers, car window vinyl, and many other items you may obtain with donations. A photo screen to capture the moment will be available.
Our Committee Chair has been working her tail off for this year's tent. When you see Heather Hagerty tell her how fantastic of a job she has and is doing. Chris Cheuvront, social media chair, will be there as well, and is why you are seeing the group page EXPLODE with information.
Thanks again to all who stop by, donate, or volunteer to help out.
From Zoe Baker:
A quick reminder that the first 6 to sign up for tent shift at Street Fair get two shirts w this logo!!
Comment below which shifts you are interested in. Show your Bulldog pride!
Lisa Schill has already volunteered so who is next!!!
FYI the who is you favorite teacher post has been removed and user blocked. The name could have been a real person but seems to be cloned so we had to remove and block. If in error apologies but if SPAM and Scammers attached need to protect our Alumni.
Thanks for your patience.
Thank you Alumni

Elizabeth Fazekas
With all the new members we are likely to have spam. Please report anything questionable and we will deal with it. Thanks.
Today has been a great day for LBAA. The Board met in an impromptu meeting to get the ball rolling on a few items coming up his month(Street Fair).
1. Chris Cheuvront was formally approved for Social Media Committee Chair. If he reaches out to you please respond, Zach Lowe is already a member of the committee as members will be agreed on informally as of now.
2. Heather Hagerty is our new Street Fair Committee Chair. No others are on this committee yet so if she reaches out, giver her a listen or if you wish to volunteer get with her directly.
3. Ideas for the Street Fair for fund raising and getting LBAA awareness out for the Fair were approved.
All 3 of these measures were unanimously approved with all 4 board members voting.
We, the Board for LBAA, are looking forward to broadening our reach and getting a larger and possibly a permanent 2nd Scholarship as well to a qualified graduating Senior.
This has been a week of memories for LBAA and all BULLDOGS. We honor those Bulldogs who have fallen as a result of battle and paid the ultimate sacrifice for our great nation. Please share with us who you are honoring this weekend. We also want to pay tribute to ALL who have served, so share your service as well. On behalf of the LBAA and all Bulldogs near and far, we THANK YOU for your service and sacrifice.
Hey dogs we have some exciting news. Chris Cheuvront has reached out to us and with his Social Media experience and know-how is coordinating our social media visibility. He may be reaching out to some of you for being on this committee in order to reach different decades of alumni. If there are any interested in being on the committee that know how to reach your class or those around your graduating class give him a dm. We are excited for this as exposure is what we need.
We are a month away from the Street Fair. As most know that is when we push for:
1. Meeting up with fellow alumni
2. Getting Information on what is going on at Lakeview
3. Fundraising for the scholarship
With that being said we already have had a donation turned in to our Treasurer.
Donations can be given to Lynda Couch in person or by mail at 804 Spring Pines Dr SW. Warren, Ohio 44481. We also have a Venmo to do by phone.
Thank you for the current donation.
A comment was brought up in discussion concerning the scholarship. We have had applicants who were raised by aunts, uncles and even siblings and this is their only connection to alumni.
Do we disqualify them because they are not parent or grandparent? Do we, if this is the case, make them prove this relationship?
Those are what we as Board members have to take into consideration with the qualifications. Please examine the BIG picture when making thoughtful remarks and requests.
As many on here know we have posted the Bylaws and regulations regarding the Association. They were posted on here and as always, discrepancy arises. This was our first attempt at putting these bylaws in place and as a first edition, anyone who writes and puts documents in place, knows that rewrites have to be done.
We are correcting the issue with the scholarship to match what has ALWAYS been the qualifications, parent, grandparent, family member. We understands some want us to remove the family member as was written in the first edition but as of now the board is chosing to include family as this is a more inclusive way to stay connected with Alumni who may not have actual children.
To have a neice or nephew being considered can keep a connection to the school in many positive ways, specially if the graduate may have been raised by such relative.
We welcome any and all questions concerning such matters. The Board has a meeting planned to fix any that we are made aware of.
Discussion in groups is great. Participation in our Alumni Association is what is also a must. To better the Association it takes more than just what we have had over the past 11 years. We get stuck in our ways but it was necessary to achieve activity and to get noticed by alumni.
We have had some help but they soon find other interests or they dissappear without positive input. Join, participare, develope relationships, then contribute is the purpose having members. Trust me when I, speaking for the 4 members of the board, say we are ready to hand the reigns over to a younger corp of alumni. But realize this, relationships developed positively, with full hearted participation goes along way. We 4 want the Association to thrive once we have moved on to other things.
Thank you to those who have contributed actively and monetarily. Also we like the discussions we have had as they will make the Association stronger.
Hey all, it has been pointed out that our bylaws are worded different than our application given to the students for the scholarship. From the beginning it has been, child, grandchild or family member to a graduating senior is eligible for the scholarship. We will make the correction to the bylaws to match our scholarship application. Sorry if this has been misleading but it was not intentional.
Hey all!! We have new alumni!! Congratulations Class of 2024!!
Here are all the recipients of scholarships for the class of 2024 including
Zoe Baker and
Elizabeth Fazekas
Who were both awarded $500. checks to use in any way they can for their first days of furthering education. We do this for all those little fees and costs that are not planned or accounted for by larger scholarships.
Both were also gifted an afghan made by Lynda Couch. One for each recipient. Thank you Lynda for the time and effort to make these.
Congratulations to you both, plus the other recipients, and welcome ALL to the fellowship of being a Lakeview High School Bulldog Alumni.
We have an announcement concerning next year's LBAA Scholarship for a legacy student at Lakeview High School. (Our definition of legacy is child or family member of a previous graduate of Lakeview High School.) The team at the fair was able to raise enough to allow for our usual $500 scholarship and keep enough on hand for any expenses that may come up. On top of that, through donations made prior to the fair, some memorial donations during the fair, and afterwards, we will be giving out a 2nd $500 scholarship to this next year's class.
Thank you for your continued support!!
Generous donations have been made in memoriam for the following Lakeview Bulldog Alumni:

Well it is time for the Cortland Street Fair though the weather looks promising Friday could be wet. Let's hope it stays dry. Dani has been working hard at getting the tent set up. Mr. Joebon has allowed us to set up again at his place, a big thank you to that. Come out and support our scholarship but mostly stop by and rekindle some friendships and make some new ones.
Looks like a great weekend ahead for Street Fair. Slight chance of rain on Saturday but highs in the 80's. Hope you can make it out and stop by the LBAA tent. Dani Scherer is putting it all together and would love seeing you. Many others will be there, (not me though), so come by and visit awhile, enter the raffle, make a donation or just look for old friends and make some new ones from all alumni. Hopefully some will volunteer to help man, or woman, the tent as well.
