BLAQVELD is a hip-hop duo made up of Tumelo ‘’KING TUX’’ Johwa and Daniel ‘‘BRIKKLAYA’’ Manqadi. Their music is a unique style of hip hop fused with a blend of other genres of traditional rnb topped off by their brilliant delivery and use of lyrics in mostly English but hints of their native. The Blaqveld phenomenon was first felt with the release of their first single titled ‘Ke Bale Da’ which sh
ot up the charts and featured on the soundtrack of PSI’s drama Series Morwalela where Tux also made a cameo appearance in the show followed by a national tour for the OICHEKE campaign. The single is a taken off their debut album aptly titled DON’T BL!NK and a remix has been forged featuring the Big brother contender and Channel O award nominee Zeus . Currently they feature on the new mixtape entitled IM STILL HERE by Mlava and D_O_G with their hit song Gaz’lam. Gazlam has been swimming in the charts already and sports the prestigious Presidents Day Celebration Award for best video upon its july release: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6VWfbEHOjPg and have teamed up with Jujuboy and Qbio to produce a remix which airs in October. BLAQVELD is most definitely Botswana’s next best export; a national tour upon album release is being finalized. DON’T BL!NK is just the beginning as Blaqveld has started plans of Merchandising to promote the brand and engage in charitable causes. Teen mentorship with Stepping Stone at last year’s camp put the boys in a position to empower youngsters on dealing with social ills and motivational conversations along with other musicians. Performances earlier this year where seen at the Bull and Bush alongside South African chart toppers TEARGAS and PRO-KiD and in addition perfomed at the BNSC Tri-nations tournament dinner gala alongside the BDF band at the cresta hotel conference centre.
