Providing medical, surgical and dental care to the impoverished people of the island of Hispaniola.
What a beautiful day to end our surgical mission! We were able to perform surgeries on 43 patients! A very big thank you to our wonderful team, all of our family members and Hospital Ricardo Limardo staff who helped make this mission a success!

HMC is dedicating our 14th Surgical Mission to the memory of dear Tía Maria! She was always so gracious to have our team in her beautiful home, feed and entertain us!
The supply packing for our next surgical mission is almost complete! We will be working at Hospital Ricardo Limardo with surgical residents and faculty from UTMB and Anesthesia residents and faculty from UAB.

HMC is grateful to be able to contribute to this wonderful organization, Patronato Manos Unidas Contra el Cancer, that provides cancer treatment in Puerto Plata to the poor at no cost!
Hispaniola Medical Charity donated 25 dialysis catheters, 18 boxes of suture, 2 boxes of surgical mesh, 6 bulldog clamp instruments and 10 stethoscopes and blood pressure cuffs to Hospital Ricardo Limardo!
Due to COVID we have not been able to make a surgical mission since Jan 2020, almost 2 years now! While visiting family this week we’re were able to inventory our supplies and donate 7 trunks of supplies to Hospital Ricardo Limardo. Suture, chest tubes, dialysis catheters sterile gloves and more. We look forward to a time when we can return!

Dr. Jessica Kim was a freshman medical student when she volunteered with HMC, she is now in her 4th year of OB-Gyn residency!
Colby Tyler volunteered with HMC in 2019. She has now finished PA school and a PA surgical residency!
Juan Torres is pictured here with his aunt, Nancy Hernandez, RN, a frequent HMC volunteer. Juan traveled with HMC twice, starting in high school and is now a fitness enthusiast and considering a radiology technician program.
Laci Washer Douglas was a first year nursing student when she traveled with HMC, she graduated from nursing school in 207 and is now an ICU nurse!
Heather Lette was a first year nursing student when she volunteered with HMC. She graduated from nursing school in 2017 and is now an ICU nurse!
Dr. Sarah Pospisil Brewer was a freshman medical student when she volunteered with HMC, she is now in her 4th year of OB-Gyn residency!
Brianna Nichols, daughter of Suzy Moon, RN, a frequent HMC volunteer, traveled with us on 2 mission trips. She now has a B.S. in Communication and manages 2 women’s boutiques!
Rohen Sukkawala is a repeat volunteer with HMC and has also volunteered with Faith in Practice! He now owns a dental practice management company!
Daisy Polanco who has volunteered with HMC many times is now a lawyer and the coordinator for Kahkow USA! https://kahkow.com/
Katherine Stevens volunteered with HMC during college at Texas A&M and is now enrolled in the School of Public Health at UTMB!
Máximo Guerrero has volunteered with HMC many times and his mother Dra. Maria Luisa Jimenez ( ) is also a frequent volunteer. Maximo (Rafa) is now in medical school at UNIBE in the Dominican Republic.

Ravi Sukkawala joined his mom, an anesthesiologist, and his dad, a pediatric dentist, on our very first mission trip. The Sukkawala family has volunteered with HMC on many missions since then and Ravi is now a sophomore in the Mays Business School at Texas A&M!
Kendra Lawson volunteered with HMC while she was in nursing school and has now been a nurse for over 4 years!
Daniel Rodgers volunteered with HMC while in college and now has been a Physician’s Assistant for 2 years!
Kayla Wilson volunteered with HMC while she was a student at Baylor, she is now attending medical school at Dell Medical School in Austin🤘
Cassidy Carrasco has volunteered several times with HMC. She is now in her 2nd year of Osteopathic Medical School!
