DCM was such a cool opportunity for record continuity. First off it’s a big 2xLP set, and second it’s got some crazy colorful Chad Lenjer art. Like come on, you KNOW Wax Mage Records was going to go crqzy on this one.
I knew I wanted purple and pink, and I knew I wanted each variant to be the opposite of the other. I thought a # # # would be the best way to show this, but honestly I think the Labelburst caught me most by surprise. Truly not a snoozer in the set. And you n ow I had to bring back the negative space again since it’s DCM!

Today is the greatest. Circle of Death vinyl is on sale today at 1pm CST only at waxvessel.com!! Be ready because they go fast, and we mean fast. This is your final warning!
How incredible is the new vinyl art?! We go WAY back with , and I’m talking WAY back. Chad did our first ever t-shirt design when he was 15 years old, which was also the first thing that he was ever commissioned for! A truly incredible artist that did so much for us over the years from CD album art, shirts, posters, you name it. Every single time our band was anywhere near the Cleveland area we ALWAYS made a point to stop and hang out with him - even if we didn’t have a show! Years later when he started tattooing, most of us drove out to get some amazing work done and even brought him out to us to do a guest spot…..where he only tattooed us. What else is there to say? He’s awesome and is so awesome for putting this new release together and making it all happen!!!
Big news from !!! • “I know you probably expect it to be some sort of joke, but even mitch connection aside, I’d still be doing this album. It’s not an accident that Dance Club Massacre got signed to the best label of the time and toured with Tower of Rome, Destroyer Destroyer and Architect. DCM is an OG10 band, and while doing Feast was a blast, the goal was always to do Circle of Death in the BIGGEST way possible. IT took two years, but we’re finally here: WV069S is none other than the triumphant return of Dance Club Massacre! We’ve got COD on deck and there’s more going on than you can imagine!
These are IN HAND and will go up for sale THIS FRIDAY at 1:00pm CST. Can't thank Mitch and the rest of the DCM gang enough for coming back a second time, such a WV endorsement and makes me feel so good that they want to work with me again! Love you dudes!”
CIRCLE OF DEATH ON VINYL?! IN 2023?! We are extremely excited to announce that this extremely special 2xLP goes on sale Friday. Did I say extremely? Because I mean it.
Wax Vessel puts out the absolute coolest bands and the best looking vinyl...and these types of things sell out in 1 minute flat so....be ready!!! Please read this amazing write-up on this as well because we just couldn't have said it any better!

DCM’s rise was meteoric and actually SICK. I remember seeing COD at FYE. Like, it was a BIG ALBUM rollout and hype cycle that I vividly remember as a teenager in my formative years. I think they preordered it for me at the counter. I was obsessed with the art (Lenjer is a legend, shocker) and when I heard it I don’t remember it immediately clicking tbh. But a few spins over the coming months later in the car, I “got it” – it was the DCM sound fully realized. It’s a playful symphonic blackened deathmetal record. It’s so much more than like “joke party band makes serious album” and I do think COD has been colored in the wrong light for a long time tbh. I think while it has its asides and tongue-in-cheek moments, this could have come out last year and still sounded relevant. I think they really had a lot of forward-thinking music on this album, and I wish we would have realized it in the time it was released!
Where Feast was certainly more deathcore/math leaning, COD was def taking the genre bending in a more mature direction. Like, you could tell that if DCM was to release a 3rd album it would be a black metal album with keyboards, haha. COD is def more avantgarde (kill me) than Feast, and the music draws more from BM and DM than DC. I think similar to JFAC going death metal (or any early deathcore band going more serious) people wanted more fart breakdowns or whatever and wrote it off. But if you listen with fresh ears and take off the Mitch-colored glasses, you’re left with a completely cohesive, super dynamic almost grinding deathmetal album. It’s symphonic and like, just because people are having fun, I think its easy to say it’s not serious when I don’t think that’s the case.
I think this album is a cultural touchstone. You weren’t listening to heavy music in 2008 and NOT coming across it. NO ONE was doing like, “post-deathcore” in 2008 when deathcore was still on the rise. Do you know how hard it is to have any kind of melodic elements and NOT just be a “melodic death metal” band? They toed the line so well. And as most artist in their time, their risks went unrewarded. Like, its got the heart of a techgrind band – its kind of loose and shrieky, but has sick production and took some big risks. Mitch, if you’re reading this, I’m sorry 2008 was not more kind! You should have released this in 2013 – in 2008 people still wanted MOAR BREAKDOWNS.
I think if DCM had continued, this album would be looked back fondly on as a pivotal transition album before DCM went pure symphonic blackmetal. But unfortunately we don’t live in that reality, so I will take COD as it is! And embrace it with open arms!
We packed SO much stuff in to this release. It’s a 2xLP, so we had tons of room to really include everything – and that we did! Not inly did we squeeze in the whole 99 Bottles on the second LP, but as a little treat we ALSO put in the whole OG, very first DCM demo on the D side. Between this and feast, we’ve got it all! Audio was once again handled by Zach over at Third Eye Studio. And while I think the production on COD is fantastic, I do think Zach was able to do a lot to modernize it, and of course he went crazy on the demos.
Art was once again handled by THE Chad Lenjer! It’s just such a treat for me to have artists redo their own art from a decade ago, haha. I think it hits every element and packs in so much color. And wait until you see what Kai did on the interior gatefold and inserts – just absolutely such an insane presentation. Mitch (being such a WV guy) really wanted a specific, pared down color scheme just so we could have sick variants, haha. Wait until you see the continuity!
It's just always so fun for me when a band comes back and wants to do another. We got to go all out and do a big 2xLP with one of my favorite bands, with one of my favorite artists. And better yet, this is an insta – so in hand and shipping immediately!

Happy 17th birthday to our debut album. This is the original version released on 06/06/06 exclusively on Interpunk.com • After being signed to Black Market Activities/Metal Blade we went back into the studio to clean a few things up, and the definitive version was later released on 7/10/07 in stores like Best Buy, FYE, Barnes & Noble, etc. Time flies huh?
Look, it was *metaphorical* and it was a different time ok?
