Bachata basics

Since we have some new folx who’ve started to coming to class… I thought I’d share some “breakdowns” of some of the basic steps we use throughout class. Probably the MOST common being the basic Salsa step.

Sorry for late notice… but for the summer Saturday OUTDOOR class will be moving to 10am to escape the heat of the afternoon.

It’ll still be warm, so dress for the heat and don’t forget your water!!

Clarification: for the summer, we will stick to our indoor classes on Mondays and Thursdays… and limit outdoor classes to ONLY Saturday 2-3pm.

I am flexible on Saturdays, so if we want to move the time on Saturday to earlier/cooler time — comment below!

Our friends at Regency Park Church of the Nazarene have saved us from the heat!

Classes on Monday 6/17 and Thursday 6/20 will be held INSIDE the “kids” area at Regency Park Church — 8707 East 51st Street. Just enter under the portico and walk down the long hall toward the door pictured below.

June 24, we will return to our regular indoor classes at Harvard Ave Christian Church.

Reminder: class is OUTSIDE today, Thursday 6/13

June 10-21, our INDOOR classes will be moving OUTSIDE to the back patio. Dress for the weather, put on some sunscreen, and come on out Monday/Thursday 5:30-6:30 @ Harvard Ave Christian Church, 5502 S. Harvard.

During this same time, we will cancel our Tuesday and Sunday classes — just to limit the number of classes in teaching outside.

We will go back to our regular schedule June 24.

Put on your sunscreen, dress for the weather — and come out and dance!

Our class on Thursday 4/18 will MOVE.

To find class, enter the doors under the covered drive through (marked "Commons Entrance"), then head for the mail office, turn right and head up the ramp toward the sanctuary -- you'll see us!

I'll try to keep checking the path for anyone who has lost their way. It is a tile floor, and we should have plenty of space for YOU!

Now that the weather is more mild, we are moving back outside!

After our temporary time at Regency Park, Zumba classes on Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday are returning to OUTDOOR classes effectively immediately. We will plan to have class on the "back patio" at Harvard Avenue Christian Church (5502 S. Harvard) as we did before the winter cold got to be too much.

So dress for the weather (whatever it may be) and come dance in the fresh air!

***NOTE: there will be no classes Thursday April 11 or Saturday April 13

Mondays 5:30-6:30pm -- inside (lights off with color-changing LEDs and lasers)

Tuesdays 5:30-6:30pm -- outside on the patio -- dress for the weather

Wednesdays -- no class

Thursdays 5:30-6:30pm -- inside (lights off with color-changing LEDs and lasers)

Fridays -- no class

Saturdays 2-3pm -- outside on the patio -- dress for the weather

Sundays 2-3pm -- outside on the patio -- dress for the weather

On a trial basis, Zumba with Kris918 OUTDOOR classes will be moving INDOORS at Regency Park Church of the Nazarene (8707 East 51st Street South)!
Times are Tuesday 5:30-6:30pm... and Saturday & Sunday 2-3pm

Entrance to the building will be under the LARGE drive-through portico on the NW corner of the building (see the red indicator on the attached map).

After entering, go straight down the hallway toward the "Children's CHECK IN" sign -- class will be held through the glass doors just to the right of this sign.

Good news! It’s supposed to be COLD Saturday, 1/6… so we will move out 2-3pm class INSIDE where it’s warm!

Just use the same doors we use for indoor class.

Our new Rockabilly song (Rockin’ Aroinf the Christmas Tree) features an instrumental break in the middle of the song. How to fill it? The Rockabilly Stroll, of course!

This is a pretty simple line dance facing all four walls. Check out this video for the basic step PLUS some turn variations to add if you so desire!

It's August -- that means Back-to-school time!

It's also a great time to get BACK TO ZUMBA!

Do you have an "old" punch card -- the white or bright green or red ones -- that still has punches left on it??? Bring that in to class during the month of August and swap it out for a brand new green one good for 5 classes (even if there's only one class left on your card!).

Have a friend who would like Zumba? Bring them to class with you during the month of August and they will get a FREE 5-class punch card... and YOU get a free class that day for the referral!

AND... all Teachers can come to classes for the rest of August FREE of charge to help them de-stress during this busy time of year.

Whew! That's a bunch of different ways to save during August! We've had good numbers during the summer, but I hope to see some faces that haven't been around much lately!
