Social Media is Meant to be Fun!
I know. When you’re trying to get more attention on your business it doesn’t always seem that way. Strategy, analytics, post reach and engagement, content curating (wait, what is that?) copywriting, etc. It’s so much to take in, and it doesn’t take long before we’re lost in a sea of research and frustration. I’ve been there. I get it.
When I first started into the world of social media management, I jumped right into ALL the research. I looked up all the strategies, watched videos on Facebook ads, and took pages of notes. I quickly found myself in a hole. It was all so overwhelming, and once I felt I had gotten close to the top of the hole, Facebook changed things up. It was frustrating and discouraging. So, why the heck am I back here, months later, wanting to work as a Social Media Manager again?
Well, first off, in the words of a respected past college professor, “I love a challenge.” I knew I really wanted to serve in the world of social media. It was worth it to me to give it another chance.
Secondly, as I did dive in again, I found that I was really overthinking what it means to grow a business on social media. Social media is about connecting with others; growing not just a following, but a community. It is the place where we learn about those we want to serve. We listen to them and help them. We have meaningful conversations. We learn from them.
