The CDC lists 5 Health Behaviors that will increase lifespan by 13 years if followed.
Imagine what you would do if you had 13 additional years of life given to you by following 5 behaviors.

1). Avoid Smoking
2). Avoid Excessive Alcohol
3). Regular Physical Activity
4). Maintain Body Weight (In other words-Eat Healthy)
5). Sufficient Sleep

As a Holistic Health Coach, we don't take the compartmentalized approach. We look at the whole of who you are. Because one part affects the whole.

Delicious pasta and pita.
It's not just about what you eat. It's equally important about how you feel when you eat.
When you are relaxed and calm during your dining experience your food digests easier.
When eating 'on the go' or under stress your blood glucose rises. Increasing risk of diabetes. It also causes an increase of acid in the stomach, constipation, feelings if being sick and nauseous.
Next time you sit down to eat, pause, and take a deep breath. Give thanks for your meal. Bon Appétit

Taking up a new fitness routine can be challenging, to say the least.
I think I'm pushing myself on this next fitness venture; roller skating.
Why not? Well, here's the list...
I'm too old, I might hurt myself, my balance isn't like when I was young, I will be skating alone, it costs too much money.
Guess what? I threw the list away and went anyway.

Our mind is our biggest challenge. When you push back on the thoughts that push at you; you'll do things you've only ever dreamed of.

Decades ago I became a very young mother. I needed assistance with my daily needs. W.I.C. was a part of that for me. They've come a long way since I relied on their support.
Beginning in June they will be making available vouchers to offer fresh fruits, vegetables, grains, and more. They will be making it so that children and moms can have healthier options. Many who rely on W.I.C. are from low-income communities and oftentimes in food deserts that do not have access to healthy nutrient intake.

My life and my lifestyle are all about "Wellness".
As a Life Coach, we must live what we promote.
One of the things that I find great joy in is being in the kitchen and creating fun and healthy recipes.
This week I was back in the kitchen making Granola Cups.
I have a hankering sweet tooth. These granola cups are both nutritious and sweet. And Oh' By Golly', they're so cute!
My eyes say, 'yes' to these delightful treats.
Great for a snack or breakfast. For goodness' sake, these lil' guys are great any time of the day.

Lifestyle Medicine (LM) is a rapidly growing discipline that focuses on the role of lifestyle factors in preventing, managing, and reversing chronic disease. At this point in the field’s evolution, there is strong evidence that the 6 pillars of LM—a whole-food, plant-predominant eating pattern, physical activity, restorative sleep, stress management, avoidance of risky substances, and positive social connections—are central in the creation and maintenance of health.
In the West, we focus highly on food and fitness. They are only two prongs on the ladder of health. Taking a holistic approach is where true success toward health and overall well-being are to be found

Diet has been identified as the single most important risk factor for morbidity and mortality in the United States. Yet, most healthcare providers spend relatively few hours learning about nutrition during formal training. This places the majority of the population at risk due to overeating under nutritionally dense foods. Consuming a high intake of ultra-processed, calorie-dense, and high saturated fat-laden foods.
Health and Wellness Coaches are key players in helping their clients lose weight and gain a quality of life. Coaches don't prescribe. They help clients gain knowledge that makes realistic and practical sense. Where the client creates their own nutrient intake protocol that's perfect for them.
Remember, when it comes to nutrition. There is no 'one size fits all' model.
