Khairallah Sketches
Text by: Ismail Fayed
The project began as a Mural commission in a tunnel in Khairallah informal district
The work tries to capture the complexity of the urban clusters of the Khairallah, which remains unique in their composition and layout.

Sketches exhibited in Malaz exhibition, Art Space, Alexandria, 2022
Reposted from Join us Thursday the 16th of June at 7:00 PM at the opening of “ Malaz – ملاذ”.
A collective Exhibition that narrates the city. This exhibition is based on the observations of the city as if you’re flying above it and could only see it from a far away angle. That is what we visit in the artists’ visions and experiences in the exhibition. Despite the singularity of each artist from the other, they still came together around one idea which is the search for an outlet – ملاذ.
The artists expressed this by visualizing the noise and fuss of the city in a dream and a desire state of having an outlet for them in this land. Like a haven for them through out the details of their day to day life.
“This experience takes shape through the monitoring of different human and artistic experiences within their inevitable connection to the city in various ways.
And this is why we find a strong link between the experience of each artist and the layers of the city that they know that has impacted them and helped shape them as artists over the years of involvement and participations with that city and what takes place in it.
Shelter Art Space will shed the light on this experience through a series of different visual exhibitions; collectives and solos, and also through the many dialogues of discussions and events about the impact of the city on its inhabitants and what it leaves of an impression on each person. Focusing on how to feel a sense of belonging and a sense of familiarity and genuinity.”
