MB Piper Metalsmith
Metalsmithing work by Mary Beth Piper
All set up and ready to go! Catch us until 8 pm tonight and from 10-5 at the Cedar Event Centre with !
Another work in progress! I've got these dark opal earrings and a second pair with light opals on the way for the Summer Designer Craft Show in July! I've been listening to a ton of punk music while I work in the studio and it's made me curious, what's your soundtrack lately? Anything new and fun you've been loving?
Simple studs I'm working on for the summer designer craft show in July, definitely still a work in progress but look at that amethyst! That violet is so saturated, I keep getting distracted playing with it in the light!
Working on some new, bigger hoops for the Summer Designer Craft Show on July 19th and 20th! I'll have these and a whole lot of one off pieces I'm excited to show you there!
Invasive opens TODAY!!! I am so excited to be showing my piece "it may always be like this" alongside some of the most amazing artists, my jaw hasn't left the floor since I started seeing photos of this show. This is the first piece I've ever made that really grapples with my ADHD diagnosis and it is...deeply personal, to say the least. I'm so, so proud to be showing it and showing alongside so many talents. Let me know if you get to see it, the work on display is just...amazing.
Little Friday work in progress! This pendant is a test piece for a new technique and I am excited to try it out. I've got all sorts of neat stuff on the bench right now, playing around with some new ideas I'm looking forward to showing you!
I made this guy ages ago, and just realized I had never posted it here! If you're a frequent visitor to my table at shows, you may recognize it! It's still looking for a forever home, but it definitely was one of the pieces that got me excited about working in the fun shapes I'm working in now!
My Wavy studs! I love this design, they always remind me of the shapes used in Memphis design, but contemporary and subtle. These are available in my shop, link in my bio!
First job of 2024: Waiting to see if I can rivet on these bad boys or if the very cool inclusions will make me say all of my rude words. Hope you had a restful holiday season!
Very excited to share this work with you! I've got some pieces I'm really fond of this time around, and some restocks of pieces that sold out at shows, so if you have wanted any of my work, now is the time!
Hi!! Sorry for the short notice, but if you were planning to come to tonight's Mom Market in Village Square, it has been cancelled due to unforeseen events! I hope everyone that is affected is doing ok! If you were looking forward to picking up some gifts for the holiday season from me though, I will still be updating my website December 10th, and it will include a couple little one off pendants I'm rather fond of. I'll be posting a couple previews tomorrow and Saturday as well! If I tell you that, I have to commit to it.
This Thursday (December 7th) I'll be at Village Square in Spryfield (right next to Mary Brown's for my fellow Spryfielders, I know I have some of you here!) If you can't make it out to see me in person, remember I'll be updating my online shop on Sunday, December 10th! Hope to see you soon!
First big snow of the year and I am made less cranky by a hot chocolate in a beautiful mug 💚 Don't look too hard at how many marshmallows I packed in there though.
Iggy and I are very excited to announce my next shop update on Sunday, December 10th! Sign up to my newsletter to be told as soon as it goes up! Can't wait to show you what I've been making!

I know this isn't jewelry, but I was talking to someone at the Designer Craft Show about the super cool little shelf mushrooms that grow behind my studio, and I thought Id share with everybody! I know I have some fellow mycology fanciers following me. :) If you're the person I was talking to about these guys, let me know! If not, let me know if there are any cool little mushrooms or interesting plants near your work. I want to hear about all of them! I found the ones on slide two for the first time today, and I was delighted.
We're in the home stretch here at Pavilion 22, but there's still time! The Designer Craft Show runs until 5 pm tonight! Hope to see you here!
Oh my gosh, I am so excited to be a part of the Designer Craft Show at Pavilion 22 this year! It's this Friday, November 17- Sunday November 19th and it's going to be amazing. I remembered this morning that being a part of this show had been on absolutely every 5 year plan I made in college and today I'm wrapping up getting ready for it, feels kind of surreal! Absolutely cannot wait to be there! See you this weekend! Eee!

Another work in progress, I'm putting this one all over the place so I'm sorry if you follow me on every channel! This is a rose quartz in sterling silver, I had made this bezel a while ago and am just now getting around to putting the stone on something. It's still in the rough phase, but I find the shape so pleasing.
Ok these are extremely rough, like haven't even had their first filing for solder yet but...slime earrings slime earrings slime earrings! I took a little break from the studio to spend some time with family and friends and the whole time I was thinking about...slime earrings! (That's not true family, I love you and was present and happy in the moment, just also excited about some wobbly blobbly shapes)
I was so excited to sell some of my half circle earrings to the amazing Rebecca last weekend! Rebecca is totally the reason I was brave enough to join the NS Craft Council in the first place and just an amazingly kind person (as, I have discovered, everyone in that organization is!) So for her to wear my earrings just made me so happy! 😄
These are my newest favourites, I've been really into looking at pictures of old malls and Memphis design, and this is one of the things that came out of it, with a lot more to come, I think! They don't have names yet though! Anybody have good strategies for naming their art? I swear I'm gonna start rolling dice. 😆
🌊
It's dome making daaaay! Featuring the stump my dad and my partner wrestled into the car off the side of the road for me 😆 Had to take a short break there for my wrists but I'm back to production for the Craft NS Summer Show in Wolfville coming up fast, and then I'm hoping to have a restock sometime early August, date tbd! If you scroll down to the bottom of my website you can get on my mailing list and be the first to know when it goes live!
Ok, I just posted this to Threads, so I am gonna post it everywhere else too! These are some of my pearl lamp studs, and while this particular pair just sold, I'll have more online soon and with the NS Craft Council July 27-29 at Devour! Studios in Wolfville! In the meantime If you've broken down and are trying out the new social media platform, give me a follow so I don't feel like I'm shouting into the void! 😆 Shout back at me!
Having an awesome time at Halifax Crafters this weekend! We're open til 5 today, there's so much to see!
p
A sneak peek at some of the little pieces I just took out of the tumbler, all lined up to get beads and pearls! I'll have all of these, and a LOT more at the Lighthouse Arts Centre this weekend for , can't wait to see you there!
Very excited to let you know that I have (finally!) updated my shop! I'm trying to get on a schedule now, I'm aiming for the third of every month, I'm sending out my monthly update newsletter and putting up new work in the shop! You can sign up for that at the bottom of my website (link in bio lol) Trying to get the hang of this finished not perfect thing when it comes to my online presence, working on the website feels very intimidating but I think regular practice will make it much easier. Anyone else feel that pressure on social media?
LOOK. LOOK AT THESE CUTE TINY PLIERS. I needed something for doing tiny adjustments inside the house and I got these, they’re so freaking cute.
Hey, posting a finished piece after posting the work in progress? Is that allowed? This is one of my adjustable rings I was telling you about! I really like making these, it’s fun to cut the end of the adjustable parts to fit the texture. They’re pretty simple little rings, but I like that about them!
I forgot to take photos of these finished, but these are some moon phase earrings I made for Halloween last year in progress! I’m thinking about making a couple more pairs soon, I think they’re really fun. What do you think?
Some earrings that will be available in my next shop update! They’re kind of a take on hoops (which I do also make!), but I’ve been calling them my staple earrings, as they’re quite geometric.
