It's wet season in Bali. These rainy days mean increased moisture and it can lead to skin conditions like mange.

We're still rebuilding our sanctuary from the heavy monsoon that damaged many kennels, so some of our pups have been exposed to additional rain.

Three years ago we rescued this sweet boy from the streets of Sanur. This is Woodi.

When we found him, he had been suffering from TVT and in extreme pain. It was the through the generous donations from this community that we were able to give Woodi another chance at a healthy life.

He recovered well and spent the last couple years with his BARC family at the sanctuary.

But last week, Woodi was adopted by his new family❤

As many of you know, the cost of living has been rising dramatically, and unfortunately, this includes the price of rice, a staple ingredient in our dog food mix.

Our current donations of dry food are incredibly appreciated, but with rising costs and over 130 hungry mouths to feed, we're facing a critical shortage. Empty bowls are becoming a reality, and it breaks our hearts to see these happy pups waiting for their meals.

It's been over 2 months since the relentless monsoon rains lashed out, leaving a trail of destruction at BARC sanctuary.

Fallen tree branches punctured roofs, walls took a beating from the heavy wind, and leaks sprung up everywhere.

Our furry residents braved the storm with us, but the aftermath has been a struggle.

We've been patching things up as best we can, but the damage is extensive, and the repairs are costly.

Unfortunately, donations haven't reached the level we need to fully recover, and sponsorships have been scarce.

This means we are still limping along with temporary fixes while our brave pups deserve a safe and secure home.

This handsome fella is Blacky, a senior dog with a heart full of joy and a love for the finer things in life - like naps! His favorite spot? A cozy old car tire that's become his personal throne.

Blacky may be getting older, but his spirit is forever young. He found his forever home here at the sanctuary, surrounded by his adopted family who love him unconditionally. ❤️

Blacky's story is a reminder that happiness comes in all shapes, sizes, and sometimes, even old tires.

These aren't just stray dogs – they're Bali's own breed, the Kintamani, or Bali Dog, with a history as rich as the island itself. Sadly, their future hangs in the balance.

Their numbers have dwindled due to mass culling as a response to rabies concerns. The rise in popularity of trendy breeds has also led to increased crossbreeding, threatening the unique heritage of the Bali Dog. On top of this, the barbaric dog meat trade adds to their suffering.

But there's still hope! By sharing this post, you can help spread awareness about the plight of Bali's dogs. Donating or becoming a sponsor is another way to make a difference.
