We have upgraded the Multiple Applications Treatment Table this year with 12 new upgrades - tilt table and traction belts pictured here and an easier-to-use knee strap with the tilt table function.

Check it out at https://multipleapplicationstable.com/the-mat-table-improvements-for-2024/.

While the Moveo XP does incline squats (a great way to do a gravity assisted partial body weight rehab program with partial weight bearing), you can't do 88% body weight tilt table with the Moveo or Total Gym. The other thing the MAT Table can do that neither Moveo or Total Gym can do is traction.

Physical therapists need safer and easier ways to exercise their patients. It's surprising how quickly the exercise weight increases as you go up in inclination with gravity.

The MAT Table is new to the market and you can use mechanical lifts or sit to stand for transfers. It's a very good exercise for rehabilitating the lower extremities with exercise from 1 to 88% body weight.

That fact that at 45゚inclination you're at 88% body weight so the inclination from 45° to 90゚only adds 12% body weight to the lower extremities is a good argument for having tilt tables only go to 45゚for better patient safety, less fear and nearly as good weight bearing.

Brandt-Daroff maneuver Done for vestibular habituation and canaleth. Repositioning for BPPV. presented by Brian Scherff P. T. A physical therapist who has treated vestibular patients and ran a vestibular clinic for 15 years.

Brandt-Daroff maneuver is a vestibular maneuver done both for habituation and to relocate crystals for BPPV. it can be used for all three semi circular canals

It is the second most common maneuver that I've seen done. It is a very generic maneuver often done by others and myself when the diagnosis is diverse.

Vestibular maneuvers are expertly done on the MAT table as it is able to tilt in both directions, making vestibular maneuvers, much more easy to accomplish. theMATtable.com

Tthe cost of the MAT table will be increasing this year from $14,400 to $16,400 and give you a chance to buy before the price goes up!

Good News…
The good news is all existing customers, (or any new buyers who confirms an order verbally or in writing before February 29, 2024) will be able to purchase the table at 2023's price of $14,400. That's a potential savings of $2,000!

As we have grown and modified the generations of The MAT Table, we have learned much and upgraded many functions based on user feedback.

Some of the changes that have been made in the past year include:
1. The wheels have been changed for a smoother glide.
2. The exercise platform has been raised 3/8 of an inch to allow more room for the single leg holder.
3. The single leg holder attachment has now been moved medially for improved patient alignment.
4. A new more comfortable cushioned single leg holder also is entering production this year.
5. Three improvements to the locking buttons and footplate opening scissor mechanism, which helps make the MAT table simpler to use.
6. A great number of instructional and safety stickers have been added at various places on the table to help with ease of use.
7. Several adjustments have been made to the base frame to promote stability.
8. New knee stabilizer for tilt table function added.
9. Many of the leg holder straps and other accessories are now made of a very durable rubberized material for easy cleanup.
10. The pulley and traction attachment has been redesigned for easier use.

This patient had severe tightness and bilateral knee arthritis. He was unable to get out of the chair without moderate to maximal assistance at the initial PT evaluation. This was due to both tightness and weakness. 1 of the 5 functions of the MAT table is therapeutic traction, or as some say decompression therapy. This traction function can be cervical or lumbar traction. That can be done in 3 ways for both neck and lumbar regions. Pictured below are motorized cervical traction as well as therapist and patient delivered traction. Self-administered neck traction is a valuable tool. It is very safe to administer. You are able to provide the right amount of traction for symptom relief and stop immediately if any concerns arise. In physical therapy, neck and lumbar traction is often used for symptom relief. The MAT table uses a customized pulley system to achieve multiple angles of traction.

Review of the Dix-Hallpike Test/Hallpike Maneuver here: https://conta.cc/3PZbMLk

The Dix-Hallpike maneuver, also known as the Hallpike maneuver, is a test that physical therapists (PTs) use to diagnose benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV). BPPV is a common inner ear disorder that causes sudden spinning sensations (vertigo) when you move your head into certain positions.

According to the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), the Dix-Hallpike maneuver is "the most widely used test for BPPV" and is "highly accurate in diagnosing posterior canal BPPV."

Case Study: Physical therapy treatment for post-COVID, Long Covid/ Post-Acute Sequelae SARS CoV-2
(PASC) with POTS style approach
Patient: Previously healthy and active individual who developed POTS symptoms after a COVID infection.
Symptoms: Dizziness, nausea, “coat hanger pain,” overwhelming fatigue.
Patient’s Functional Goals:
 Able to complete one hour shopping trip without stopping due to dizziness, nausea, brain fog, or
fatigue.
 Able to walk for more than 30 minutes without stopping and without increased fatigue without
post-exertional malaise (PEM).
 Ability to safely drive 20 minutes or more to visit family without exacerbating symptoms
mentioned above.
For the past two months I have been treating a previously healthy and active patient who suffers from
“Long Covid”/ Post-Acute Sequelae SARS CoV-2 (PASC). Although she had no history of heart disease,
she began demonstrating persistent symptoms associated with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia
Syndrome (POTS) following a Covid infection.
Like most patients experiencing the post-Covid symptoms of POTS, she had tried many
other treatments and modalities to address her symptoms, but it only got worse until she eventually lost
her job.
We did not realize that a protocol of horizontal exercise was necessary.
Several months ago her physician recommended LE strengthening exercises completed in horizontal and
recumbent positions twice a week, and low level cardio training of no more than 25 minutes (including
warm up and cool down) on a home recumbent bike three alternate days of the week.
During treatment, while monitoring heart rate variability (to ensure it doesn’t elevate) and blood
pressure, I have been able to address and gradually progress this patient on one piece of equipment, the
MAT Table. Completing all strengthening TE on one piece of equipment has proven helpful as frequent
standing transfers exacerbate symptoms such as dizziness, nausea, “coat hanger pain” and
overwhelming fatigue.
For improving strength and endurance in patients with long Covid during therapeutic exercise (TE), I
have found the following exercises to be beneficial:
 Bridges,
 Four Direction Straight Leg Raise (SLR),
 Clamshells,
 Short Arc Quads (SAQ),
 Mini crunches,

 Planks (side and prone)
 Partial incline squats,
 Single lower extremity ankle plantarflexion and dorsiflexion
 Hamstring and quad stretches.
I also found gradually inclining the MAT Table throughout her sessions and introducing the above
exercises to be helpful in improving tolerance to upright positions with decreased symptoms.
This treatment approach, based on the POTS style of exercise, emphasizes gradual progression and
avoidance of activities that exacerbate symptoms. It is important to monitor the patient& #39;s heart rate
variability and blood pressure during exercise to ensure that they are not overdoing it.
Exercises performed on one piece of equipment (MAT Table) to minimize standing transfers and
exacerbation of symptoms:
 LE strengthening exercises completed in horizontal and recumbent positions.
 Low-level cardio training of no more than 25 minutes (including warm up and cool down).
 Exercises gradually progressed from horizontal to inclined positions.
This patient has successfully progressed from low-rep exercises inline, to exercises with partial incline
position, and increased reps. The patient is expected to tolerate and progress to strengthening in
upright positions in the next 4-8 weeks.

The only 5 in 1 multifunction physical therapy table in the world is made in the USA.

One of the tools that physical therapists may use to treat rotator cuff partial tears is the pulley system on the Multiple Application Treatment table (MAT table). The MAT table is a versatile device that allows you to perform various exercises in ranges under 30 deg., for shoulders in different positions and directions.

The pulley system consists of a cable with handles that uses the 44 lb. sliding part of the MAT table as a weight. The incline of this sliding part creates 1 to 36 lbs. of weight. You may use the pulleys to perform shoulder exercises that improve range of motion and flexibility in different directions, such as:

Shoulder flexion: Lift your affected arm overhead.

Shoulder abduction: Move your affected arm away from your body to the side.

Shoulder external rotation: Bend your affected elbow at 90 degrees and rotate your arm outward.

Shoulder internal rotation: Bend your affected elbow at 90 degrees and rotate your arm inward.

A rotator cuff partial tear is a common shoulder injury that can cause pain, weakness, and reduced range of motion. It occurs when one or more of the four muscles and tendons that stabilize the shoulder joint are damaged by overuse, trauma, or degeneration.

I find in my treatment of rotator cuff partial tears under 20%, the most effective exercise are shoulder depression, low range isometrics, and resisted motions under 30 deg.

One of the tools that physical therapists may use to treat rotator cuff partial tears is the pulley system on the Multiple Application Treatment table (MAT table). The MAT table is a versatile device that allows you to perform various exercises in ranges under 30 deg., for shoulders in different positions and directions.

Rehabilitation short story

A recent patient with a left CVA, who had difficulty with ankle dorsiflexion in physical therapy. After 1 week of rehab at 12% body weight on the multiple applications treatment table, he was able to achieve dorsiflexion passed neutral.

There are a lot of ways to improve after injury or stroke but the MAT table creates a platform to do it with less anxiety for the patient and less risk(and less hands on so you can document) on the therapist part.

The patient had much less toe drag after two weeks.

3 Ways to Increase Profitability in PT Clinics With Declining Reimbursements

The healthcare industry is a growing market, and physical therapists are in high demand. However, many physical therapists struggle to make a profit. Here, are 3 ways that healthcare providers, physical therapists, and occupational therapists can increase their profit margins without slashing vital business costs or subsidizing their business with their personal funds.

1. Increase average transaction value. This means providing more value to patients so they are willing to pay more for your services. You can do this by offering additional services, such as massage therapy or acupuncture. You can also offer discounts for group appointments or for referrals.

2. Increase lifetime revenue per patient. This means getting patients to come back for more treatment. You can do this by providing excellent customer service and by making sure that patients are satisfied with their treatment. You can also offer loyalty programs or referral bonuses.

3. Optimize your use of space and schedules. This means using your resources as efficiently as possible. You can do this by scheduling patients back-to-back, by using space-saving equipment, and by using online scheduling tools. Optimizing the use of space means potentially reducing your rent.

The MAT table

In 2011 I invented a better machine for heavier and mobility challenged patients in the outpatient clinic, hospital, and nursing home rehab environments.

The MAT (Multiple Applications Table) concept began more than 11 years ago when I saw an obese patient in a PT clinic fall off the squat platform she was using. At that moment I realized, there must be a better way and I began to design one.

A machine by a therapist, for a therapist, that would work for everyone-regardless of size or stability. And…the concept for the MAT table was born.

I found much of the equipment currently being used for PT isn’t’t actually designed for PT; It was designed for home gym use for weight training, and not for heavier or debilitated patients. The MAT table will safely support up to 500 lbs. The MAT table fits everyone!
