Today our virtual tour stops on the Isola dei Pescatori (Fishermen Island), named after the activity of its inhabitants. Its appearance is sober: no imposing garden, but a silent place whose charm derives from the simplicity of the small houses that occupy it. It is part of the islands of the Borromean Gulf and it is the only one to be inhabited, although the number of tourists exceeds that of residents (about 50).
While the Borromeo family was interested in building the family villa on Isola Bella, Isola Pescatori was owned by the archbishop of Novara, who refused to sell it.
It is the smallest island, the one that does not offer a view of lush gardens and impressive buildings, but has a charm of its own, which allows it to compete in all respects with the other Borromean Islands. Isola dei Pescatori does not give in to luxury, but thrives on simplicity with elegance.

Caorle, due to its similarity to the lagoon city, is called "little Venice".
Its historic center is a riot of colorful houses, each different from the other, with bright colors and pastel tones. Over the years, Caorle has maintained its charm as a seaside village.
Fishing is still one of the most practiced activities: according to tradition, fishermen go out to sea before dawn to return in the afternoon with their catch to be sent to the municipal fish market, where it is sold using the "auction by ear" method. ”. It is a very curious system: each box of fish is sold at auction, but the prices offered by the buyers are not declared or shouted out loud as one would expect in a market, but rather whispered in the ear of the auctioneer who sells and assigns the box to the highest bidder.

Why it is called Elephant Beach is clear enough. For years it has now been one of the most photographed points of the Costa Smeralda thanks to the presence of the characteristic rock that the atmospheric agents have carved in the shape of an elephant. To reach this small but enchanting beach you have to train in swimming or rock climbing. It's all feasible, don't worry.
This is the beach that Roger Moore fell in love with in 1977, during the filming of Agent 007 "The Spy Who Loved Me". Of course James Bond was not the only one to remain speechless in front of the crystal clear blue-emerald green water, accompanied by a beach with a suggestive atmosphere and fine sand.

: With the eyes of Letizia Battaglia
To free herself from a “master father”, Letizia Battaglia got married at the age of 16 to a man older than her. Instead, even her husband turned out to be authoritarian and possessive. Three daughters were born from their relationship. At 38, Letizia managed to divorce the man who had clipped her wings. Although it took her a lot of effort and two years of psychoanalysis, this breakup allowed her to take back her life.
Her career began in the late 1960s. Letizia Battaglia photographed the darkest years of the mafia and feuds in Sicily. She decided to stop photographing mafia events in 1992, after the killing of magistrate Giovanni Falcone in the terrible attack in Capaci.
The meeting with the poet Ezra Pound was important to her career, and she drew great inspiration from poetry. After a short trip to Milan, during which she thoroughly learned the mechanisms of photography, Letizia returned to Palermo and started collaborating with various journalistic testers, making her way as a photojournalist.
One of her most famous shots is that of the murder of Piersanti Mattarella, a Sicilian politician murdered by the mafia. In her photo we see his brother Sergio Mattarella trying to get him out of the still dying car.
Although she is best remembered for her work on the mafia, Battaglia often repeated that her favorite subjects had always been women and girls, especially the poor ones she saw on the most disastrous streets of her city. She said to empathize with them and to feel a sense of complicity.
She was the first European woman to receive the American Eugene Smith Award in New York in 1985, named after the famous photographer of Life magazine. After a few years in Milan she founded the Photographic Information Agency.

The Gole di Fara San Martino are one of the most beautiful places to discover in Abruzzo. From here you can access one of the longest Apennine valleys, the Santo Spirito valley which from Fara San Martino rises to the roof of the Majella. Among the landscapes of Basilicata, stands Forenza, a hidden pearl that enchants visitors with its authentic charm and its thousand-year history. Forenza boasts a rich and fascinating history which is reflected in its narrow alleys, its ancient churches and its historic buildings.
Art lovers will find much to admire in Forenza. The Mother Church of San Nicola, dating back to the 14th century, is a masterpiece of Gothic architecture, with frescoes and works of art that tell centuries of religious and cultural history.
But it is in the streets of the city that the real artistic treasures can be discovered, with the decorated facades of the houses, the picturesque courtyards and the small welcoming squares. Every corner of Forenza seems to tell a story, inviting visitors to get lost among its secrets.

🍹Do you know Negroni Sbagliato?
The Negroni Sbagliato was born in Milan between the end of the 60s and the beginning of the 70s, in the Basso Bar, a historic neighborhood bar still in vogue today. It was invented by the bartender Mirko Stocchetto, who, during the preparation of a classic Negroni, confused the bottle of gin with that of Prosecco.
Success was immediately ensured, due to the presence of sparkling wine, which makes this cocktail less complex and more pleasant to sip thanks to its bubbles.
You can easily order a Negroni Sbagliato: if you can't find it on the menu, also look for "Wrong Negroni" or “Mistaken Negroni"
: The two pink columns of the Doge's Palace in Venice. 👇
Two columns of the upper loggia of the Doge's Palace in Venice are pink, while all the others are white. They are made of red Verona marble, but to date there is no certain explanation why it was chosen to make them stand out in the white colonnade.
Legend has it that the doge, on the occasion of the ceremonies, took his place right here, from where the death sentences were also announced, and so the pink (or red) would recall the color of the blood of the condemned.
Other sources give an "artistic" explanation. The two pink columns, in fact, would be positioned on the site from which, in ancient times, a staircase that descended into the square started, before the architect Filippo Calendario carried out the restoration works of the Doge's Palace in the fourteenth century.

An oval of sky is enclosed in the Rotonda Foschini, a small elliptical courtyard, an integrated part of the architecture of the Municipal Theater of Ferrara, dedicated - as the name suggests - to Antonio Foschini, one of the two designers of the theater, but not directly from the Roundabout.
It was born as a place of passage of the carriages of the time, but today it has been redeveloped with a small renovation and closed to traffic to allow it to be used as a pedestrian area and as a place for events.
Go through here, an almost hidden place, and remember to look up: the framed sky is wonderful.

Italian stories, when they go beyond borders, keep the identity of the Bel Paese and explore new nuances of the place they are set in. That's what makes QC NY a unique place: it's an Italian house with the spirit of New York.
QC New York, an oasis of relaxation located on Governors Island, is part of the renowned QC Spa of Wonders, founded in the 1990s in Italy by two brothers, Saverio and Andrea Quadrio Curzio, hence the name “QC.”
QC New York invites guests to wander through the expansive 74,000-square-foot grounds and experiences for hours, encouraging them to dip a toe into the Italian art of “dolce far niente” – the sweetness of doing nothing. Guests can enjoy Vichy showers, saunas, infrared beds, and more than a dozen relaxation rooms.
To provide maximum winter comfort, QC New York offers heated walkways leading to the pools, where warming racks keep robes nice and toasty. Guests can unwind on heated loungers in the two outdoor glass-enclosed Reflection Rooms, enjoying the views wrapped in cozy blankets and basking in the warmth of indoor fire pits.
The location warms up the New York winter and makes it even brighter. Through March 8, guests can relax in the outdoor heated pools while watching the QCirque of Wonders lights and fire show, which unfolds against the Manhattan skyline on Tuesday and Friday evenings.
🎭During the Carnival, the city of Ivrea is filled with colors and scents, from Sunday to Tuesday, by the spectacular Battle of the Oranges, a moment of great involvement and strong emotion, a re-enactment of the popular rebellion (the orange throwers on foot) against tyranny (the orange throwers on wagons).
The spirit of the Historic Carnival lives in fact in the re-enactment of an episode of liberation from tyranny: a baron who controlled the city was driven out thanks to the rebellion of Violetta, the daughter of a miller who did not want to submit to the ius primae noctis and who, by killing him, ignited the popular revolt.
🍊Throwing oranges therefore has a symbolic value but is also fun: a handshake, after a "head-to-head", celebrates peace.

It was built on the occasion of the centenary of the birth of the Italian physicist, to honor his memory and the great work carried out in electricity research, as the famous inventor of the electric battery.
The lighthouse, with an octagonal plan, is a 29 meter high tower that dominates the entire valley below. At night the lighthouse illuminates Como and the valley with beams of white, red and green light.
