Is there a mystery steam engine hiding at our Rally?
Since our very first rally held in Church Stretton in 1961, there have been 59 rallies organised by the County of Salop Steam Engine Society. Over that period there have been almost 500 different steam exhibits appearing at one of our rallies, totalling almost 3,000 appearances.
Add to that the number of other exhibits that are just as proudly displayed at our Rallies, which these days has well over 1,000 exhibits each year. All are lovingly restored, maintained and polished by their enthusiastic owners and carers. That really is a considerable amount of polish and elbow grease.
That fact also backs up what we advertise – that there is so much to see and something for everyone. We frequently hear that confirmed by visitors to our Rally, with comments like, “I never realised there was so much here”.
And now for the mystery engine!
Out of all those exhibits, there is one steam engine that probably gives people more joy than all the others but is perhaps looked at the least. Some may not even realise it’s there. But which is it? Answers in the comments, please.
All those 1,000+ exhibits will be waiting for you at Onslow Park this coming August Bank Holiday. Shrewsbury Steam Rally is a great value-for-money day out, so why not book your tickets via our website now.
