When you ask theater kids to sort and label stuff, you have to be prepared for anything.

Hey, theater students! You know how I go on and on about staying focused when you're offstage, because you never know when something might go wrong, and you could be the only one to fix it? Well...
At a Recent Hamilton Performance, Two Actors Changed Leading Roles Mid-Show Sickness on Broadway led to a mid-show shuffling of swings and understudies.
Hey, peeps! The rule is:
NO SCHOOL, NO REHEARSAL
Stay home & be well!
If you would like to help a former KCA theater student, Jack, start navigating this new path without his parents, please consider donating. https://www.gofundme.com/f/david-fritts
An experiment in the fall of 2015 resulted in a student performing a scene with his father, who happened to be a professional actor.
This morning, David Fritts passed away. We appreciate all he did for KCA, and the excellent actor and lovely person he was. All of our KCA love to his son, Jack.
A personal note from Tara:
I have stated many times that the theater (and film) industry is founded on a cycle of abuse. I have made it my mission to teach all theater artists, especially youth, that they deserve respect, and they have the right to leave if their boundaries are ever crossed, or if they ever, for any reason, feel unsafe.
Knowing when to advocate for yourself, and your safety, means you have to know what your boundaries are. But many adults don't know this, so how we can we expect a young person to a) know their boundaries, b) declare them, and c) feel empowered to hold fast to them?
We have to normalize respecting others' boundaries and demand respect for our own.
I have been studying intimacy choreography with Theatrical Intimacy Education. It's vital to the health of theater artists, and the industry itself, to destroy the system that has been accepted as business-as-usual up until now.
I promise to do my very best to dismantle that system from the inside.

Martha Game: An ensemble activity where one person declares themselves to be "something," and then each of the rest jumps in, one at a time, to create a whole picture.
Apparently, the Intro to Theater class has something on their collective minds.
Aaaaand we are back! And some of us are REALLY excited!
