Happy Shopping Season! š
Happy Thanksgiving! Among many other more important things that I'm so grateful for, I'm glad I don't have to cook today! My husband has taken on the majority of the task this year. woohoo! Which means I get to work on the three projects I've got going today. Mammal Christmas ornaments, ice cream cone party hats, and a new dinosaur fossil party theme. My desk is a mess!
I'm looking forward to checking out this craft fair this weekend. It's at a cool local coffee shop down the road. There are a couple craft fair in the area that I really enjoy. Maybe next year I should look into participating in one of them. I've only taken part in one craft fair ever, but I did really enjoy it. š¤
What do you think? Do you all do any of your holiday shopping at craft fairs?
Shop local this holiday season! Join us on Small Business Saturday for our first annual craft & vendor fair. Europa will be open and will have specialty drinks and some grab and go items.
These skull ornaments are still one of my favorite things I've made. I love them because they seem to be pretty original and also because the design process started with real life mammal skulls! Here's a tiny video showing all the steps in reverse, ending with a photo I took of a skunk skull.

My day job is in the Division of Mammals at the Museum of Southwestern Biology. So for the past six years, Iāve made mammal-themed Christmas ornaments for all the people I work with. For the last three years, Iāve also sold them on my website. So if you like mammals, or animals generally, or even just nature as a whole, then you might find that you need a new ornament (or six!) for your tree. Take a lookā¦ you just never know!
Oh, no! It's already time to start thinking about Christmas! And I have a few things for you! new and old. Take a look at my site and tell all your friends! š

A few new holiday things will be available November 1st!
The middle card is a new style that I want to do more of. Iāve been doing embossing for a long time, but never an all-over design like this. Keep an eye out for more like it in the new year.
I've been working hard on a new party theme! Was up late editing photos and here are a few of them. I take my pictures with different color backgrounds and even with different lighting scenarios (hooray for working in the kitchen!) For some reason this theme was really hard to get the photos all feeling the same - colors are all over the place! But... it's what I can do!
check out the new collection on my website.

Happy Labor Day and unofficial end of summer! In my neck of the woods, this is the time of year for sunflowers. So this month's new card features sunflowers. š» and beetles! š I thought the little beetles added the perfect balance to the stamped flower design. And! They are inspired by an actual bug found on an actual sunflower! Cute little thing, right?!
Today is National Pen Pal Day. So letās talk pen pals! Do any of you have one? Did you ever? Do kids these days still have pen pals?
I donāt recall ever exchanging letters with a stranger, which is usually what pen pals are. But for a while I did write letters to a friend after my family and I moved away. These days I donāt write letter at all, sadly. But, you know what, I think I'll write a letter to someone this weekend!
You should too! Maybe to someone you know. Or to a stranger. I found this list of organizations that will help you find the perfect person. https://www.bradaronson.com/sending-letters/
and psstā¦ I've started making stationery, if you need any. https://madebyadrienne.com/collections/stationery
I canāt draw. But when I try to, itās painfully tedious. So, for the first time, I decided to purchase a set of stock images. I just had to have trucks for the construction party theme Iām working on, but I also couldnāt bear trying to create trucks myself. I know my limitations!!
When shopping around I learned that most stock services charge extra if you want to put the image on a physical product (rather than a website or flyer). Which is a bummer for poor olā me, but Iām actually totally happy to pay accordingly for the use othersā art! So thank you Leremy on Shutterstock! These trucks are a perfect fit.
These lovely little paper houses and things make me very happy. Some of them even move. šš

Februaryās New-Card-of-the-Month is a brand new style for me. And Iām really happy with how it turned out. š Itās a simple uniform line design in fun metallic colors.
It took A LOT of troubleshooting to get the metallic film to transfer nicely. There are so many variables - transfer temp, paper texture, brand of foil, dust. But Iāve got it now! And I canāt wait to come up with more designs.

Iām planning to make (at least) twelve new cards this year. Yay! My New-Card-of-the-Month for January was a redesign of my embossed cupcake birthday card. I think itās a pretty nice update. Would you agree? But thereās still a few of the original design available on my website!

One of my very favorite small, local businesses is AstroZombies comic book shop. I always spend way too much money when I go in there. They also have a great selection of vinyl albums. And their ceiling of fame is pretty dang cool. They've been voted the best comic book shop in Albuquerque for 22 years in a row, so you probably already know them! But if you don't, AstroZombies is worth checking out!

These are the three new Christmas cards I designed for this year. It took a LOT of trouble-shooting to get the metallic foiling right. I need to figure out a good, reliable method once I'm not so pressed for time. Christmas really sneaks up on you!! I'm going to start working on Christmas in JULY next year.
I make a mammal ornament every year to give out to the people I work with. I'm pretty proud of this year's. And I think that even people who don't work with mammal would appreciate them. Gingerbread animals! What's not to like?
After a couple of VERY late nights I finally have a few new Christmas things ready to go! Don't wait until Small Business Saturday or Cyber Monday to check out my small online business. See what I've been working on right NOW. š (Thanks!)

Last month I decided I needed to start sending birthday cards out to friends and family again. I used to never miss a birthday! Over the years I've gotten lazy, but now that I'm making lots of cards again, it's just wrong not to send them out to people.
September's card was a prickly pear cactus stamped design with pink metallic fruit.
October's card is an orb weaver spider in its web. Part of the web is embossed and the other part is glossy black.
Both of these cards are also for sale, BTW. Maybe you want to start sending more birthday cards too?
Something I've realized about trying to hawk my seasonal wares, is that you really need to think three or four holidays down the road. I'm not ready for summer to end, but I'm also so over Halloween! If you're just getting ready to think about Halloween, I do have a few new (and old) things for you to check out. And meanwhile, I'm gonna start planning for Christmas. Which is both a bit late and way, way too early!

Hi, all! I've made several one-of-a-kind birthday cards lately. Thought I'd share some of them with you. Turning 13 sure has been popular!
Visit my website if you'd like your own unique card.

I made a little stop motion video of the bunting cake topper I'm working on. It'll be on my website very soon! But until then you can see all my other patriotic decorations here: https://madebyadrienne.com/collections/patriotic
I'm remaking all of my embossing templates to work with the new press I bought. I always forget to take good process photos, but here are a few pics of remaking my shore life set. And of course the finished cards. š
I bought a super simple overhead camera/phone mount so I could take more pictures of me making things. Here's my first attempt at a video. What do you think?
