This is the way.
Loving Korey’s mindset this morning at her session.
A few days ago I completed my Septorhinoplasty surgery with the hope of improved breathing once recovered.
Unfortunately, this means I can’t exercise or move much at all for the next couple of weeks. Then have another 4 week slow return to activity to complete the process.
As someone that does not like to take rest days or be inactive this is a daunting month coming up.
Today was the first day I felt like I could move a bit more than just getting up off of the couch or bed. The only prescribed movement I can do is walk.
So that is what I did…inside…up and down the hallway. Outside is just to dry for my face so I stayed indoors.
A simple goal I have is to just get more steps than the day before.
Today was just 4K steps. Tomorrow will be just a little more!
Special shoutout to my wife the last few days for taking care of me and keeping my spirits up!
Run Club has wrapped for the season. We had an amazing year with a solid core group. Looking forward to next year!
Special shout out to Coach Julia for crushing her 5k time last week on the last race of the year!
Practical Wellness Run Club does a 5k!
When you stick to the process you gain the freedom to explore.
Korey is out there putting her health and fitness to use.

The cool think about track workouts is that there is not pressure to keep up or slow down with others and we are still able to keep the community element intact.

Communication is one of our highest priorities.
There is a direct correlate with the success of our clients and how well we communicate with each other.
If you want to amplify your progress make sure to speak up!
You are an individual with needs, wants and specific barriers.
Talking with your coach and letting them know whats up is not a burden on them. If it is then you need to find a different coach.
We are hear for you and want to adjust to meet you where ever you are!
36.7 miles completed yesterday and Practical Wellness client Alex is still feeling solid today.
Intentional preparation and training works!
The Practical Wellness Team was fortunate to be able to help support the Keep Moving Forward Half Marathon/10k/5k this past weekend.
It was amazing to watch everyone work hard not just for themselves but for those that need help.
Thank you to and for organizing such an important event.

What does Practical Wellness Run Club look like??
We meet in person once per week for a coach led workout, typically at the track (allowing all fitness levels to run together). There will also be a home workout programmed each week. We'll do a couple 5Ks as a group throughout the season. Let's work on our cardio, have fun and improve our running!
Haven't been running all winter?? That's fine - we'll ease back into it!
Keep Moving Forward Race for our community!
Join us May 7 for a 5k, 10k, or half marathon to support our community and The Big O Foundation.
The Keep Moving Forward is on Sunday May 7, 2023. It includes the following events: 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, and Virtual: Keep Moving Forward.
This race will be first the half-marathon in North Liberty, Iowa, to raise funds for the The Big O Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charity. The Big O Foundation was created to honor the life of Owen Eugene Skelley (2006-2022), and it uses his story to spread mental health education, draw our community together, and support the welfare of local youth. The race proceeds will go to this great cause.
There’s a race for all levels: half marathon, 10k, and a run/walk 5k. All races begin and end at Liberty High School and wind through the city of North Liberty. This event is a timed race with all participants receiving a medal at the finish line. Plus, all races can be done virtually –so you can participate even if you’re not in North Liberty and also include your friends and family from across the country.
This is truly a community event— Versa Fitness, Team Iowa, and the fitness businesses listed are partnering to promote the race and promote mental health awareness. The I'm Glad You Stayed Project is also helping promote this event.
We look forward to seeing you all at this event, as a runner or to cheer on our community in a fight for mental health awareness.
Practical Wellness Run Club will be kicking off next Sunday April 2nd at 5 pm at the University of Iowa Track!
All ability levels are welcome to these coach led workouts.

No one wants to lose strength as they age.
Everyone wants to be able to enjoy their life to the very end.
Unfortunately, time is fighting against you, and if you’re not actively fighting back to preserve your muscle mass, you’ll lose that battle sooner rather than later.
Thankfully, it’s pretty easy to get started, and even if you’re late to the party you can still make a difference.
Insurance sells TEMPORARY peace of mind.
That’s it.
Because everyone knows there isn’t a single insurance company out there that values the people paying their dues more than their own bottom line.
Fear can lead to injury. Injury leads to a lack of independence. That is the evolution of old age for everyone who doesn’t “build their temple” and consistently pay that home insurance.
One person in the US dies every six seconds from cardiovascular disease. One in every four deaths. If you don’t take care of your heart, it will refuse to take care of you.
So what do you do?
Insure yourself.
Get strong.
Stay conditioned.
That alone would dethrone cardiovascular disease as America’s top killer.
Save this post, watch it when you have 5 minutes.
It hurts… should you keep going, or should you stop?
Watch this video and get some of the clarity and peace of mind you have been looking for.
Also, share it with a friend who would benefit.
Looking forward to being apart of the amazing event and community!
