We are excited to announce that all high school students will be receiving a school-issued laptop for their coursework and studies. This is an amazing opportunity that we believe will increase engagement. It will also allow students access to cutting edge content and technology.
Today we are mailing out paperwork regarding the rules applied to these devices as well as the user agreement. This agreement MUST BE SIGNED before students are issued a laptop. We will be having device information nights for parents on the following dates:
9th grade Orientation September 1, 6:30pm
Grades 10-12 September 2, 6:30pm
During this session the devices and some of their features will be explained. We will also allow for a Q&A session. Signed user agreements can be mailed, dropped off at the school or turned in at these evening events. Students will be given their devices within the first week of school. Students who do not have signed agreements will not receive a laptop.
It is important to note that prior to this venture smart phones were allowed at the discretion of the teacher in the classroom. They were often used for research or other applications at the teacher’s direction. Now that all students will have laptops cell phones will not be allowed in the classroom. As always, parents needing to contact their children during the school day may do so by calling the high school office at extension 1300.
We hope you enjoy the balance of your summer and look forward to seeing you on September 1st and 2nd.

Upcoming Event-
On Sunday April 12th we will be dedicating our Varsity Baseball field to the legendary teacher/coach/AD of Pine Plains Mike Kohut. Mr. Kohut coached baseball for Pine Plains for 25 years compiling a record of 370-143 with 12 league titles, 2 sectional and 1 Intersectional Title. He was an 8-time Conference Coach of the year and Coach Kohut never had a losing season. Mr. Kohut passed away last year and we wanted to do this event in his honor. The dedication will take place at 2pm on Sunday April 12th with a MHAL Divisional Varsity Baseball Game versus Millbrook to follow at 3pm. There will also be JV and Varsity Softball and baseball scrimmages.
Check out his wall of fame bio on our district website: http://www.ppcsd.org/athletics.cfm?subpage=1660348
