Wow! You can adjust the 'kick' to your liking - quick to make and bake with Oast To Host pastry flour. Perfect for this time of year. The recipe will be up on the website tomorrow - highly recommend!

Happy ! Living in the 'garden of England' how could we let this pass without a mention. Here in Kent we are surrounded by wonderful apple orchards. Thanks to all those hard working pickers these apples will be on our shelves very soon. Have you ever baked an Apple Cake? - a light sponge with chunks of fresh apple throughout. Served warm with a dollop of ice cream - job done!

Doughnuts! - what is it about doughnuts? There were 5 of these finger licking treats before I turned my back - who else has this problem?! With lockdown easing it doesn't look like my problem's going to go away - I guess I'll just have to make more next time.
A customer tried this fabulous recipe with Oast to Host Cake Flour, soya milk and dairy free margarine making them dairy free - she said they were amazing - looks like I may not be the only one with this issue?
Are you a jam, lemon curd or ring doughnut fan . . . ?
It's - In the UK alone its estimated that 2 million people are living with a diagnosed food allergy & 600,000 with coeliac disease. This does NOT include those living with food intolerances. There is no cure for a food allergy, just a strict avoidance diet.
Have you ever thought how stressful a meal out could be for an allergy sufferer? A slip up in the diet can not only ruin a date night or a holiday but also cause hospitalization or even be fatal.
Understanding and education can help reassure those in need - let's give it to them . . .
I love this Canterbury Tart recipe. Living in its a popular one in this household. I tend to squeeze off a little juice from the grated apple & add a little cinamon. sweet shortcrust blind baked pastry case provides a wonderful contrast in texture for this well balanced filling (or any other filling!). Easter Bunny Biscuits - a fun thing to do with enthusiastic little ones (or indeed not such little ones!) before or after the chocolate extravaganza! Just make up a batch of pastry with pastry flour, cut your shapes and bake slowly at a low temperature until golden and well dried. Decorate with water ice and sprinkles or perhaps some piped chocolate eyes, bows, colars . . ! The more the merrier :)

Let's take a moment to think about the successes/things we've achieved over the last year. A post from the Oast - its been highlighted to me that just because I spent most of my childhood & the last 30 years of my life in Kent - there are a lot of people who have never come across an Oast house.
Oast houses are where hops are dried in preparation for beer making. Hops were first cultivated in Kent 600 years ago!
I've had the pleasure of working from a converted Oast house but I'd like to share this cross section of a working Oast house with you.
Conventional beer is not gluten free due to the use of malted barley but there are many delicious gluten free varieties now available.
Another lovely testimonial from a long standing customer.
