Danny Faragher - Too Much Pressure (Official Video) 05/09/2020

Peppermint Trolley Company member Danny Faragher's recording of ‘Too Much Pressure’, from the album ‘Dancing With the Moment’, came in at #23 on Blitz Magazine’s Top 30 Best Singles of the 2010s. (The Rolling Stones and David Bowie are at #28 and #29, respectively. LOL!).
'I was surprised and delighted!!
Both Alejandro Echevarria and my son, Bryan Faragher contributed to the writing of this song. Although I wrote the lyrics about ten years ago I believe they are still relevant today. Maybe more than ever!'

Now the rich and greedy keep goin’ to town
While the rest of us just movin’ on down
Empty pockets and empty dreams
Where’s my chance to make the scene?

All around, all around
All around, all around

I can’t take this much
I can’t take this much
Pressure!
Whoa, some crazy maker keeps shoutin’ in my ear
Words full of hate; words full of fear
Chill out! – (Why don’t ya!) - and Step on back
Get yourself acquainted with all the facts (For a change)
Now be it fast or be it slow
This funky system has got to go
So send a message to the banker boys
That the people 'bout to make some noise

All around, all around
All around, all around

I can’t take this much
I can’t take this much
Pressure!

Here’s a Story – The twisted tale of the Peppermint Trolley Company and the Brady Bunch Theme Song 20/07/2020

Danny Faragher of the Peppermint Trolley Company here. I finished writing this story last night. It's a time travel back to 1968. A quick and lively read. Hope you enjoy it!

Here’s a Story – The twisted tale of the Peppermint Trolley Company and the Brady Bunch Theme Song   The Mystery Song The Chevy van’s engine hummed as we as we sped along the 10 Freeway toward L.A. I was riding in the back with my butt on a Sunn amplifier, it being my turn. It had been well over two hours since we’d left the Big Bear cabin and my cramped legs…

Sunrise - Danny Faragher 05/06/2020

In the spring of 1968 I was living in Silver Lake with my Peppermint Trolley Company band mates - Jimmy, Greg and Casey. We were poor as church mice, but we had a record deal, and since we could not afford anything that would distract us, we worked constantly on our music. Our buddy and former band member, Patrick McClure, who had left the band the previous fall, was there more often than not, co-writing songs with Jimmy or with the whole group. His song writing skills would play a big role in the artistic success of the album we were soon to record.
’68 was a year of rapid and extreme changes, much like today. The war in Vietnam was escalating and the draft hung over our heads like a sword of Damocles. One morning Patrick came in with a new song called ‘Sunrise’. It had come to him in the night as he drove his old converted bread truck from Santa Cruz down the coast. He was feeling pretty low after having had a meeting with the draft board. Needing to rest, he’d pulled off the road into a restaurant parking lot, opened up the back of the truck and with guitar in hand, had written the music and lyrics to the song as the sun began to rise over the mountains.

As soon as I heard the song I knew I wanted to sing it. It so perfectly expressed how I felt. It’s message of finding strength to carry on when all seems dark spoke to me. The original lead vocal on ‘Sunrise’ (Linked below) is nakedly vulnerable, filled with boyish innocence but from the heart and emotionally straight ahead. There were decades when I could not listen to it - those ‘wanting-to-get-over’ years when I concentrated on developing a more testosterone-fueled vocal delivery. Later, I was able to appreciate it. When I decided to perform it again a half century later I knew I could never capture that original vibe. But with a great song one can find a different shading and still be true. I think I did and hope you agree.

I dedicate this to my late, great friend and band mate, Patrick McClure (photo below)
I’ll watch the sunrise tomorrow
Even the clouds cry in sorrow
It’s true
Today let me down but I know
That the sun will shine

Red and bright yellow hues are showin’
I’m just a fellow used to knowin’
My place
Today let me down but I know
That the sun will shine. Shine

Ba-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da
Ba-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da

Softly the light fills the grey skies
Window of life is the sunrise
It’s true
Today let me down but I know
That the sun will shine. Shine
