Diggers' creed
Diggers' Creed is the joint page of the University of Roma Tre and AUR, where we want to share&narrate what we, as archaeologists on field, do every day.
This coming Sunday, the 23rd, at 10.30 am, the Appian Road will be virtually invaded through photos and posts and a tour will be held on site. Do you want to join us?

Celebrating The Day of Archaeology at the Forum of Peace and the last day of our dig
Getting to know each other: "double interviews" from the Forum. Lorenzo from Roma Tre University and Ella from AUR share their point of view on archaeology and life on the field.
Enjoying a gift from Professor Higgins, thank-you very much!
Today on Roma 3 Scava you can watch the first in a series of interviews with members of both the Italian and American universities who are working at the forum, where in each video, a member from both discusses their experiences on the excavation. Today's video features Lorenzo from Roma3 and Ella from AUR
Take a look at Roma 3 Scava, where our fellow Italian diggers from Roma3 university would like to say
Today we learned how to create a computer-generated plan of the excavation as Juhl and Leilandra took a turn in the lab
At the same time new students from AUR arrived: they are dealing, under Lucrezia's supervision, with amazing pottery dating XII century.
The rest of the Italian crew helping and checking the documentation. Also our Spanish Antonio left: hola till next time!
Dig is about to end: we said bye to Nick, Roxani, Frangelica, James and Vik. The brave Sarah is still here, making a tough matrix with us Italians.
Giulia and Noemi, the other two supervisors, are leading the difficult activity. In the end the entire story of this part of the Colosseum will be told.
One more to 300!!! Come on!!!
Come on!!! Only 6 to reach 300!!!
Great sketch Nick!
Today Giuliano's area is lacking two great girls: Dima and Sam. Good luck girls and thank you for everything!!!
You can see that the entire area is much sadder and emptier without you two!
We too have Joe Cool on our dig! By the way he is Giuliano, one of the supervisors!
What do you think we are excavating? 😀
A new day is starting for the dig... Already wondering what will happen today
Happy faces during our trip all around the Colosseum :)
Somebody draws but some others do the hard work! When pickaxes and shovels rule on the dig...
Welcome in our 'house'! Works and understanding are going on. Here Serena and Vic are studying the Middle Ages structures that were built inside one of the ancient Roman rooms of the Colosseum.
We can't wait to see in one hour the hidden parts of the colosseum: it will be our treat for having completed half of the dig! More pics to come!
Cakes on the excavation!!! Thanks Alessia!!!
Not only do we excavate, we stop to discuss our progress, theories and doubts. Are you curious?
Scarpe già ai piedi, pronte e pronti per iniziare un nuovo giorno!
We had a tough week removing the most recent layers in Cuneo IX and in the other part we are continuing where we left off last year-cleaning and measuring the walls. More interesting things to come next week!
Let's start digging! Che lo scavo abbia inizio!
