Im super excited to be a part of the 50th Anniversary of Hip Hop on the MALL in Washington DC this Saturday August 12th, 2023

Im excited to use this opportunity tomorrow to display some of my dad’s artwork in a pop up at the Reginald Lewis Art museum in my hometown of Baltimore MD. My dad’s work will be on display tomorrow Friday August 4th from 6-9pm. Doors are at 6pm. The Performances start at 7pm. I go on at 8pm. See you there!

I really forgot or underestimated how important it is for artists to be in community with one another. I saw so many of my real friends who gave watched me grow up in this industry and got to hug their necks for the first time since the pandemic. People that I forgot I loved and missed because I just got used to not seeing folks. This weekend made me happier than I could have imagined. I hadn’t seen since Dave and Mike transitioned and I was just so happy to hug him. I really miss my friends man. I hadn’t seen or and and so many others in years. Even my friend like that I’ve seen on the road, it was still so good to see her smiling face again in this environment. My heart really needed this.

The conference is back after a brief hiatus. And it was better than ever! 💛

Over the weekend, Pillars had the opportunity to participate in the 2023 Black Muslim Psychology Conference organized by Pillars grantee partner , an organization dedicated to promoting healing and well-being while reducing the stigma associated with mental illness, addiction, and trauma.

This year, focused on the significance of Black Muslim Joy in promoting healing and wellness and delved into the art, science, and practice of achieving it. Black Muslim activists, physicians, psychologists, anthropologists, spiritual leaders, poets, historians, artists, educators, and other experts came together to share practices, insights, and strategies in preserving the legacy of rituals of Black Muslim Joy.

Congratulations to on a successful . Thank you for creating space for thoughtful, restorative, and joyful conversations.

You already have what you really need. You were born with it. We lose belief in ourselves and in our creator and the purpose of our creation and then we go adding on superficial layers to cover what we think we don’t have and add on to feel important. We allow others to add on their ideas and opinions and “education” and judgement and we agree. It’s not until we strip it all away that we see with real eyes and realize for the first time again

Late post because I’ve been running like crazy. Indigenous Day Live in Winipeg Canada was soooo beautiful! The talent and the love on that stage was incredible! There were soooo many great artists and everyone was super dope. Thank you for inviting me to share in fun and the legacy! The whole team so awesome!
