Happening Tonight!
๐Ÿ“… Date: November 16th
๐Ÿ•• Time: 6:00-7:00pm.
๐Ÿ“ Location: The Q Center

๐ŸŒˆ Join Us for the "Q***r Drunk Punk Workbook Study Meeting" ๐Ÿ“˜โœจ

Calling all members of our vibrant q***r and trans community! ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ Are you ready to embark on a journey of self-discovery and recovery? We invite you to our special all-recovery meeting where we'll dive into "The Drunk Punk Workbook: A Step Working Guide to Getting Sober Without Gods or Masters." ๐ŸŒŸ
This meeting is a Q***r and Trans-specific all-recovery meeting and is also a welcoming space for those of us practicing harm reduction. The author focuses on abstinence, though there is worthwhile information and reflection for every road we take on the journey of recovery. ๐Ÿ™Œ
๐Ÿ“š About the Material:The material itself is adapted from AA literature, but for those who may not have felt comfortable with the religious undertones of 12 Step programs or had such meetings forced upon them. Copies of the workbook-zine are available for participants to read during the meeting or take home.
๐Ÿ’ป Access to the Material: For those who wish to have a PDF copy of the material, you can find the Drunk Punk Workbook on the Microcosm Publishing website for $5.99. We will also provide free copies to those who want it.

Masks will be required so this event can be accessible to all and due to the spike of recent Covid cases. Let's come together in solidarity on the path to recovery, supporting each other every step of the way. ๐ŸคWe can't wait to share this journey with you.
Spread the word, tag a friend, and let's build a stronger, sober, and more connected q***r community. ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆโค๏ธ

A nice reminder from on IG โค๏ธ

ETA: Commenting has been turned off on this post. As a small team we don't have the ability to monitor such a hateful and disappointing comment section. Deeply stigmatizing, hurtful, and/or outright malicious comments have been hidden. There is a lot of misinformation around syringe exchanges, which are essential centers for health and safety around the country and provide the critical service of dramatically lowering the spread of hepatitis C and HIV, as well as minimizing risk of injection-related injury from using unsanitary supplies. Just because you don't understand a person's drug use doesn't mean it's okay to dehumanize them. We encourage everyone on this post to take a moment to reflect on your values as a person, why you follow a harm reduction organization, and how you want to show up for others in the world.

Image Description:
A black and white drawing of a bird holding a syringe on top of a trans pride flag. Text to the bottom left of the bird says โ€œsupport your local needle exchange.โ€ The Tapestry health logo is in the bottom right.

The Equi Institute is hosting a monthly Q***r Peer Meet-Up! Our next meeting is scheduled for this Friday, November 10th from 10a-12p and will happen monthly on the 2nd Fridays.

This meet-up is specific to peer workers (THWs, CHWs, CRMs, PWS, PSS...etc) that are LGBTQAI2S+ identified or work directly with LGBTQAI2S+ people and will combine peer learning, anonymous case conferencing, and network building. This virtual space will start out being facilitated by The Equi Institute's Lead Community Health Worker, Madeline Adams (she/they) with the goal of inviting other folks in the group to facilitate, if they're interested, on a rotating basis.

Working with LGBTQAI2S+ folks comes with its own unique challenges and strategies, especially when you share that identity with the people you are serving. This space will be a place to commiserate, strategize, jointly address barriers and challenges, learn from each other, build stronger referral networks, and support each other in our work.

Please share with anyone you think might benefit from participating in this group. Here is the link to register, which is also linked on the flyer.
