Now open! We are Los Banos' only Pawn Shop. We buy GOLD and Silver!! We buy and loan on Anything of Value! Come and see us for a quote. What is a pawn?
A pawn is a common name for a collateral loan. To us pawning something means that you have a real reason to come back and retrieve the item. We keep it safely stored for a stated specific amount of time. You return to us our money plus a fee and your item is returned back to you; hence the word “pawn.”
Is my transaction confidential? We take pride in keeping your transaction confidential. No infor
mation is shared with any outside organization except as required by law. It is our responsibility to the State of California and Local Law enforcement that each and every loan and all identifiable purchases be reported. Besides that, everything is confidential and no information leaves here. How do you determine value? Unfortunately, I need an established market to work with. This means if your item is exceptionally unique; please don’t be surprised if I show little interest. As well we need to be confident it is your item. Do you understand what it is? Do you know how it works? Can you explain it to me? True ownership is important. If you can’t use it or don’t understand it, don’t expect too much. And just as important is attitude. Don’t be surprised if you come in with a poor attitude then you will probably leave just the same. Do I need identification? Yes, you do need identification. We prefer it is your ID --long story, must be government issued, whether that be Federal or State. A Passport or a Military ID is good too. The ID must have a picture, must be valid, and paper copies are not acceptable. I have an outside buyer for my item in pawn. Can I show it to them? No, items will not be shown until paid for. That means if you or they want to see it, it will need to be paid for. And please, if you have a willing buyer, be courteous and show items off our premises. It is your item and your business and shouldn’t take place on our property; actually that is the law. I’ve decided I don’t want it; will you buy my stuff in hock? Unfortunately the way things work, usually the price of redemption is very close to our interest in purchasing it. That is to say it would be of little value for you to pay to redeem something, then turn around and sell it to us. Not all circumstances are as such and depending of course on what you have it on loan, will be the determining factor. But no usually it doesn’t work. But, you don’t understand “I’m Coming Back” and words of that nature. Some things are just very painful for a pawn broker to hear, and one is listening to someone tell me how they are coming back. That is great; I’m not worried; in fact, I’m happy for you. Please do, yes please. However, after you leave is a not the time for me to decide the value of your item to me. The time for me to decide is here and now, at present. The loan is on the item not your intent. Another phrase please be careful Not to use is “Come On.” I am coming on; I do come on; and each- and-every day I have been coming on. The consideration given to your item has been played out many, many times; in a multitude of ways: The factors that contribute to the decisions I make are immense. Realize that life is full of options and just one of them is here, now, you and me. Can my wife or friend pick up my loan? It is our strict Store Policy that the person who gets the loan needs to be the person who picks it up. Regardless of the relationship: husband, wife, friend, or parent. Please don’t send other people to retrieve your items. We have a responsibility to You. It needs to be You, in person, with Cash. If circumstances prohibit you from coming in person then please contact us, before the loan expires. That way we can work out the finer details as to how to proceed. What if I cannot pay the balance to retrieve my item? Loans can be extended as long as an item stays in our possession. We allow people to rewrite their loans as long as they wish, even if the item is growing obsolete. If you cannot afford to pick up your item please feel free to rewrite it as long as you would need to. But, be sure to pay BEFORE THEY EXPIRE! After a loan has expired, even if it is one day, is not the time to decide you still want it. What if I am out of town or what if I've moved? In many instances it is not feasible for you to pick-up your items before the end of the four month period. That is fine and understandable and totally OK. And if so, it just takes a little effort on your part to keep your item safe and extend your loan. As an example: extensions are done by paying us the fees due minus the amount loaned. In a sense you are getting another four month loan. This can be done in person in the store with cash. How many loans can I make? As long as you have plausible motives, we can write you multiple loans. For any pawn broker cold feet sets in when we see one person with just too much stuff-- and it isn’t making sense. But, in all reality if what you are doing and why makes sense to us, we can write multiple loans. Also, it’s very common for people to re-pawn the same item over and over many times. It’s often a good backup plan for people on a tight budget. That’s why we say money today & more money tomorrow.
