What a season ✨
It has been a little while since I have connected here. I have been taking the time to find the words to communicate all the gratitude, love and joy the past few months have brought.
I feel I have finally landed after our very special retreat on the Fermanagh lakes in April. With this I want to say that from the bottom of my heart I am so grateful and filled with love to have shared such a beautiful few days with each magical human that committed to join us and a huge hug of love for our beautiful team who held that space in collaboration. Moments that will be remembered forever.
Retreats have been in the grand plan for years and to now have these unfold right here in Ireland is something special.
Our next Ireland retreat will be on the beautiful west coast of Ireland in October. This will be a transformative few days filled with connection, time to reflect and body/mind gentle cleansing. I trust those meant to be with us will reach out.
This feels like a good time to mention my own retreat in July. The month of July I will taking a pause to travel, recharge and reconnect with my loved ones. Appointments will complete in the last week of June, resuming again in August.

Juicing is what I call "liquid gold for the cells". By removing the fibre we allow the digestive tract to remain at rest. Rest is when we heal. We are not sending energy there when digestion is not activated. Meantime the nutrients from our juice get to work, nourishing our bodies.
Whilst digestion is in action, we are using energy to break down our foods and extract nutrients. This is healthy and part of our day to day life but we can all benefit from a break.

Pasta Wednesday .... because life is for loving.
What a whirlwind few months it has been here, reminding me how unbelievable the human body is and how well it can adapt to change with resilience when we are taking care of it.
After 7 workshops yesterday in a 12 hour period and an early start today, this dish felt absolutely divine tonight. It felt like a big and beautiful hug and I am now snug on the sofa in my PJs. Heaven.
The point? When the body is in balance, when we are pouring from the full cup- the longer days, the big dish of pasta, the occasional glass of fizz, the stressful event .... Our body has the ability to tolerate it without being derailed.
When we are out of balance, this can look and feel very different.
In case you feel like a big bowl of spaghetti this week (mine is GF- one self respecting choice I don't mess with) then I hope you enjoy every last bite.

Garlic goodness.
Roasting up some of these beauties this evening as we transition into a slower paced few days ahead.
Garlic is from the sulphur family so very important in phase 2 liver detoxification, along with numerous other specific food groups.
Our lovely liver is working day in, day out to support healthy clearance of toxins, hormones, bacteria and much more.
Due to genetic variances and lifestyle choices, some of our livers detox pathways may be sluggish which will eventually result in presenting symptoms.
This week in clinic I have found myself working lots with hormonal imbalance.
Often clients are led to believe that a pill can address this 'ill'.
In fact we approach this entirely differently here and ask the question 'why is there hormonal imbalance?'.
This may require further testing and of course a deep dive consult to ascertain an individual's full picture of symptoms.
We want to address diet and lifestyle but at the core we are looking at each system and supporting these as required based on the individuals requirements.
Personally, my phase 2 clearance has and always will require extra TLC. Understanding this via testing and applying actionable habits has changed my health picture in many ways. From hormones to immunity, the liver is always in need of some love.
No system works alone, no system heals alone.

As the gears begin to shift & days of quiet fall upon us, I feel a sense of calm wash over me. The stopping of everything in this holiday period reminds me of lock down & yes I am one of those people that looks back on lock down with fond memories. I loved the stillness, it felt like how life should be to me.
When things get too busy, too fast, we loose connection with what is important. We loose connection with ourselves. The "too busy to ..." is killing us.
Many of my clients report it and I am sure many of you can relate.
So for me this is a time I like to batton down the hatches, make few to no plans or commitments and just enjoy the lack of structure.
Space & time opens the gateway for connection & creativity.

Making it home after a weekend away studying just in time to grab a short walk on the beach with my love & catch nature working all its magic .... priceless.
As we enter the 'over' season - over spending, over eating, over stressing, over expecting, over worrying etc, try to stay present & remind yourself what is important.

A colourful & abundant week in clinic, rounded off by a Saturday of 'in person' consultations. It was so lovely to have clients in the space today but I equally love the freedom and opportunities my online services provide. Choice is a precious gift.
People often ask what I do day to day, assuming it is something to do with calories. I don't think I have mentioned the word calorie apart from in this post in about 7 years. No calories in, calories out.
I work with my clients to uncover the root cause of imbalance in their bodies. This involves in depth consultations, practitioner level testing & lots of getting comfortable with one and other.
For example, this week has included analysing advanced gut microbiome tests, vaginal microbiome testing, genetic detoxification & methylation panels, OAT testing, guidance on parasite clearing, hormonal support and much more.
No two weeks, actually, no two clients are the same meaning that every session is colourful and eye opening.

Nature as medicine.
Phew, I feel like I am just bobbing up every so often this season to simply say 'hi' on here.
The truth is that life & work are busier than ever. I don't like to wear the busy badge, particularly if the support is not in place to allow it. I must say though, this busy is good busy & life is in full flow.
I am immersed in projects that fill me with joy and fulfillment. My clients are going all in to understand their emotional & physical wellbeing & all the possibilities that are there for them. I don't think I have enough emojis to explain how happy this makes my heart.
Next week I begin community & school workshops which is always a whole different level of fun/madness. Regardless of social status & financial circumstances I have always felt passionate that everyone deserves the education to make choices. I stand by that & will strive further on this mission in 2023. Watch this space.
Oh also, my brand new website will be launched very soon thanks to the help of a dream team of ladies.

For now though, time for some nature as nourishment with a coastal run to round off the week.

Gut microbiome & health.
It is no secret that our gut micro-biota can have a far reaching impact on many aspects of our health, from emotional wellbeing to our immunity.
At birth, the intestinal tract is sterile; the infant’s gut is first colonized by maternal and environmental bacteria during birth and continues to be populated through feeding and other contacts.
From this point onwards and throughout infancy, the dietary and environmental influences/choices we make paired with genetic variations, particularly on the FUT2 gene and liver detoxification genes, can have the ability to support our health trajectory or hinder it.
From immune compromisation to digestive manifestations and many symptoms in between, the health and happiness of your microflora is imperative.

Physical & Emotional nourishment.
A delicious Tarka Dal prepared this morning ahead of a busy & exciting weekend away.
This weekend is the first weekend I will be back on the student side of the classroom for sometime & I cannot wait.
Our study group brings food to share at lunch time which moulds a nurturing environment where we can bond & share stories over food made with love.
Often in the Western world I see many clients loose touch with their food, treating it more as a 'must have' rather than an opportunity to practise 'self love'.
The physical body & symptoms associated can mirror our emotional body. These symptoms are not disconnected but actually intricately woven as one, regardless of what you have been lead to believe.
With this in mind, taking time to nourish ourselves physically & emotionally with simple & wholesome ingredients, enjoyed with loved ones, is a crucial part in our overall health picture.
I urge you to spend some time in the kitchen this weekend. A simple slow cooked pot can change the state of the mind for the week ahead in more ways than one.
