Your fitness goals should be LONG TERM. ⁣

Whenever I am on the phone with a prospective client, I always ask what his or her goal is. ⁣
⁣
If the answer is something along the lines of “I have a cruise/wedding in 2 months and I have to lose 15 or more lbs.”, then I stop them there and say “If that is your goal then I’m probably not the guy for you.”⁣
⁣
The coaching industry has become absolutely rampant with people promising quick fixes and using unsustainable methods to get people fast results so they can capitalize and post the before/afters with a quick time frame. This leads to them getting more quick business from people who want a quick answer. ⁣Their client retention is also abysmal. ⁣
Here’s the reality. ⁣
⁣
Anything you achieve overnight WILL be lost just as quickly and you WILL end up worse off than when you signed up with that con artist.⁣
⁣
Why?⁣
⁣
Your body has what’s called a metabolic set point. This is where your body is in homeostasis. It’s the weight and body composition your body is comfortable being at, likely because you’ve been there for a while. Let’s keep in mind, nobody becomes overweight overnight, so why do we expect that to be different when losing weight?⁣
⁣
Your body’s metabolic set point CAN be changed to a leaner, healthier, happier you. ⁣
⁣
HOWEVER, this takes time when done right. If you want to change the way you look, you have to accept that it takes time. My best client transformations are clients that have been with me 6 months or more. If you try and lower your calories too quickly, your body doesn’t like this and will be WAY more likely to gain every bit of that weight back. So yea, you may be 15 lbs. lighter for that cruise (after losing both muscle and fat and looking arguably worse), but as soon as you binge and go back to your old dietary ways after following a copy-paste crash diet, you will look and feel WORSE than when you started.⁣

It does me no good to crash diet people. Doing so only ensures they will inevitably reach metabolic damage, rebound, and then make it twice as difficult to lose the weight the next go-around. ⁣

All my clients reach their goals and maintain those goals.
