Working & watching a little barn owl do his thing looking for more little things for brunch. I’m surprised he’s out & about at lunch time.. perhaps the frosty cold morning has meant a later start than usual. I’ve been following a programme of reflection & action which enables me to move from the world of time stress to become a Time Genius. It’s not about doing more but doing less really well. Shout out to the lovely who is my coach on this one 🥰
There is loads of stuff in there that I’m bringing into my life to achieve my pretty big goal of creating a beautiful retreat space at Runswick Bay on the North East coast🌊🐠
There is wonderful stuff in there that I’m already doing & this quote comes up which has been the mantra in our house for everyone for always❤️
5am in the morning I have my coffee in silence, meditate, yoga asana & then family breakfast at 7.30am. My other half journals & trains & my little one reads a book or keyboard practice or before it was drawing (she dosen’t get up at 5am anymore thank you) 🙏
We are all early birds but this is a habit we have all created through repetition. I know my daughter would have much preferred to be on a screen if we hadn’t created this morning routine which everyone loves now & feels set for the day.
Your morning routine could be as long or as short as your current life situation permits. It could be as simple as making your coffee quietly, smelling the coffee beans, stretching while you boil the kettle, drinking in a quiet spot where no one will disturb you for just those five minutes & saying a little mantra to yourself as you get dressed) I like to go outside for mine, coffee not getting dressed🤣❤️

My teaching is deeply inspired by getting out in nature, by my time spent with the people I love & the time I spend on my mat🌿
Getting out in nature is bliss, the smell of dewy grass, the blusts & gush or crazy invisible winds, the sweet song of birds, the solid hugs given freely by the trees, the views from the tops of hills, the skyscapes from looking up, the patter of rain, the freshness of life running through my veins🌿
Getting out in nature reminds me I’m a part of this🌿
Yoga helps us connect to our internal nature, it’s the time to explore & be in our inner landscape. By focusing on our body & breath we develop an awareness of the life force within us. We call this life force Prana🌿
0ver time & with practice we come to realise that the force of life running through nature is the same as the life force running through you & me. Yoga wakes us up to the realisation we are all connected in this beautiful web of life🌿
So for me this is the beauty of the teachings of Yoga & nature, you wouldn’t want to hurt yourself, steal from your family, kill your friend or poison your dog!
Practicing & Sharing Yoga for me is about bringing love & peace into the world ❤️ love really does make the world go round.

Find some quiet perhaps through yoga practice, a walk in nature, a silent cup of coffee in the morning to slow down & listen

So excited to be running these classes again after what feels like a very long break.
This is a baby class with a difference having a focus on looking after the mother, post natal recovery and building a support circle. These classes have developed from my personal experience trying to maintain my own yoga practise after having 4 babies and from completing specialist Pre and postnatal Yoga training.

We had a wonderful day yesterday retreating in Westerdale with a surprise visit from Molly the “best behaved spaniel ever”. We enjoyed beautiful yoga practices, ate soul food from Dani Delights & took in natures delights with sun, chill & blue skies, love those days. Anyways a lovely day was had to raise pennies for this fabulous charity which helps provide medical care for street dogs in Sri lanka. If you are a pooch lover see link below to help out ❤️❤️❤️

I remember saying the exact same thing to my teacher when I finally found my way onto a Yoga mat. My teachers response is what I tell people today..you find Yoga when you need it.
Yoga practice is a beautiful way of looking after your body & your mind & celebrating all that you are. Yoga teaches us to listen in, to take notice, to take care of ourselves & be able to extend that caring to our family, friends & far beyond.
So no it’s never too late to start yoga. Look at community pages or a gym near you for local classes. You may like to try a couple of classes to see which one you enjoy most.

Super hot day to be working on jumping through & back. Ive been studying advanced anatomy with David Keil & this weeks homework is anatomical patterns in arm balances. Some of my students ask me about arm balancing & how to learn…. Well the journey starts as soon as you put your hands on the earth & press down…the pattern starts when you look up in your Surya Namaskara & press your hands into the earth in down dog. Creating helpful patterns to move more functionally with freedom & ease is a pattern we take off the mat & apply to life. We learn to observe & be aware on our mat which helps us see the patterns we create day to day, month after month. Its good to be able to see clearly which of our habitual patterns are helpful & others not so much🌻

We will start the session with a guided meditation & perhaps a wee look at a philosophical aspect of the practice. Sun, shoulders & hips at Kismet Yoga Studio on Sunday. Thanks for spending Sunday morning with me looking at strengthening & stabilising & opening the shoulders for binding in Ashtanga Yoga. It was lovely to explore where & how in the standing sequence we can find lots of opportunity to open our hips ready for the deep hip work we'll find later in the seated postures.
