Wombat Warriors
No one knows how many wombat remain across Tasmania. We have a survival strategy for the species but need help to implement it...before its too late.
Anyone got Bravecto on flinders Island? Needed urgently.
voting in Tasmania this weekend? Neither Labor or the Libs will do ANYTHING to help Wombats with Mange...the AJP will within priorities.

She's right...all the jobs n growth...lol. what a farce.
I'm not sure what to think.
Lammy was up again for five minutes this morning after his nummies.
His catheter has temporarily been removed and most of the painful scabs came off during the night.
He is gaining so much more strength with every meal ❤️
Another true warrior.
if we can't save Koalas ...the Wombats have very little chance. Fancy even discussing whether a native animal over rides housing ?

Environment Minister Penny Sharpe faces a major test over a controversial housing development criticised by government agencies because of its potential to impact the last chlamydia-free koala population left in greater Sydney.

Those of you who have followed us for a while, would know our extensive efforts to expose the common and cruel practice of burying wombats alive.
I have spent 16 years attending these culls to try and save these babies and expose this practice.
To be honest, it has come at a tremendous personal cost but today, it was all worth it.
Today the Bill which makes 'Burying Wombats Alive explicitly illegal' passed the Upper House!!
It is a monumental day for the wombats of South Australia. We are almost there!
Thank you to everyone who signed my petitions, and watched/shared the videos and the biggest thank you of all goes to the remarkable Tammy Franks Greens MLC for helping me in every way possible and successfully raising this in Parliament.
You little beauty 👏👏👏
One of the answers..Tassie?
6 years ago... It's much worse now. https://www.facebook.com/john.harris.186590/videos/10154735751594130/?mibextid=Nif5oz
I have an ongoing conversation with the State and Federal governments about Wombat Mange. received a response from Tanya Pliberseks office sending me to someone else about all they are doing...
WIRES....is the answer... Pay $125 to learn!! book a course then? or call WIRES? The fact is the evidence expecting citizens to treat a disease in a native animal and pay to do it...not much closer example of insanity I have ever seen.
Wildlife Training Tasmania To help improve wildlife rescue and rehabilitation outcomes and help more animals faster, WIRES has been working closely with Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary, The Department of Natural Resources and Environment Tasmania (DRNE) to launch a new training program for wildlife rehabilitators.
We need more of this.. Rare pocket of mange free wombats...wash your shoes.!! https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-11-20/new-reserve-at-sloping-main-in-tasmania-south-east/101663798
Taking conservation into their own hands, hundreds of donors rally to buy peninsula bush block From the outside, this reserve looks like any average bush block — but a community has banded together to help raise $3.4 million to preserve it.

Nthn Tasmanian peeps... Got any mates with corflute ...old politician signs... Real estate etc...much needed cause...we have baby wombats again near Kelso and Greens Beach. Thanks in advance.
Last night at around 2am I was dragging a freshly (hit by car) male wombat off the road...He was huge....as I rolled him over he gave out a breathe....his last one........I was in the middle of nowhere, pitch dark and completely silent, so I just sat there and stroked him in case he was still alive......and to be there as he died.....lying in the middle of the road bleeding and broken boned.......He was a mighty male wombat with a huge set of balls and the size of a Labrador with short short legs......battled scared suggested he was at the peak of his powers and fathering plenty of wombats...and he died like this...like so many.......I sat there beside him for maybe 15minutes till headlights of a car appeared on the horizon, so I dragged him off in the the ditch and looked up at the stars, thinking each time I do this, life just gets that bit more harder and there are no winners in the end or any justice...just carnage.......rod
Let's hope Tanya fixes it.. AND recognises the Wombats plight. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2022/jun/02/coalition-scrapped-recovery-plans-for-176-threatened-species-and-habitats-in-one-of-its-final-acts
