March Meet the Maker.
Day 3: How I start my day.
I have beautiful visions of what it would look and feel like to get up at 5:30 am, take the dog for a walk, enjoy a coffee while the sun rises and actually doing my hair but for now, I’m here.
I hit the snooze button. I make my way to the kitchen and make coffee. (regular for my hubby and decaf for me). I ensure my boys have their lunch together and then I get ready. I’m very low maintenance and am ready for work in 10 minutes. Hair in a top knot, some mascara, lipgloss and then I’m off to work. (Work for me is a high school art teacher 💕💕- how lucky am I?)
March Meet the Maker.
Day 3: Snippet
Here is a little snippet of what is on the glazing table this weekend.
March Meet the Maker Day #2.
All about me.
That’s a loaded prompt.
Fast facts: I am: an 80’s baby, an animal lover, a wanna be foodie, a high school art teacher, an over analyzer and an extroverted introvert. I am: indecisive and stubborn but am creative and love to help those in need when I can.
At the end of the day, who I am has been cultivated by my friends and family. I am so beyond blessed to have so many ride or dies!
March Meet the Maker.
Day 1: Brand Origin
I decided to put my identity as a potter out into the world by applying to be a vendor in Art on the Boulevard in Erieau. I believe this was in 2015 but have never been good with dates or timelines. I was accepted. Then came the realization that I ‘should’ have a name for my brand. Honestly, Jules Love Ceramics surfaced quickly. My sons name is Jules, he is my absolute LOVE and I make ceramics. Bam. Lol. I didn’t spend any more time thinking (which is ironic because as an art teacher I continually preach to my high school students that your first idea is not likely your best. I always stress brainstorming. Lol)
Thinking of a brand name? Just throw your kids name in there some how. You are less likely to regret the brand name choice 10 years later! 😂(unlike Hotmail account addresses). 😂
Pinch pots. Definitely the piece people buy and don’t realize what a staple they become.
I love to see them in use. DM me a pic or tag me in a post of your pinch pots in use.
Remember, they are oven safe. Depending on size, they are for hot dips, baked brie, crème brûlée and individual sized casseroles.

Simplicity. Carnations, morning sun and a handmade slab vase.
Honest opinion. What do you think of the slab vase? Do you like or prefer cylindrical shapes?
Fluted plate. So many uses. Key tray, soap dish, spoon rest…..any other suggestions?

It’s all about the pinky finger when painting. It serves as a guide for straight, confident lines. 🖌
Stack of plates and pinch pots. 💕💕
Adding another clay body to my collection. The speckled clay I use was out of stock and was substituted with this super speckled clay. I wasn’t sure about it at first but now I’m in love. It actually pairs really well as an accent piece in my regular speckled clay stacks! Stay tuned for more super speckled pieces!

Last week of making before the Spring market and then on to the rest of the process. So much is involved in the process of making a ceramic piece.
⭐️ making the piece (1-3 days)
⭐️allowing it to dry fully (one week)
⭐️bisque fire in kiln (24 hours)
⭐️wash and sand
⭐️underglaze/glaze (time depends on decoration)
⭐️glaze fire (24 hours) Kiln gets up to 2200 degrees.
⭐️sand and wash
Please keep this in mind when you visit fellow potters/ceramic artists at markets this summer. A LOT of time, money and love goes in to every single piece.
