Time for a post and pics of my past weeks.
Slide 2-3: in Norway writing lyrics for two of my new songs.

Slide 4-5: in Cologne having an intense end of semester week , also holding a wonderful concert with my students (slide 2).
And rehearsing with for our upcoming performance .

All meaningful to me.

I have generally not been so active on social media lately, simply because I took the space with less distraction to dive into everything related to my upcoming album which will be recorded in August with and . 🔥🔥🔥
Beside practical stuff, listening to rehearsal snippets, re- arranging, writing lyrics, learning the Pashto lyrics, connecting with my voice, discovering the right vocal sounds for the songs, understanding what this album will be, what I want it to be and what direction the music takes me this time….Wonderful process and also frustrating sometimes as inspiration does not manifest in lyrics or music when there is pressure but when there is space and focus which can feel like a paradox. It’s all about entering the flow which has to do with trust and joy. At least that’s my experience.

I can not wait to record this album in August 🤍

More exciting news-
I will release a new single in a couple of weeks from now with a music video.

Wenn die deutsch-Afghanin zum Singen ansetzt, passiert viel mehr, als dass sie ihre Stimmbänder zum Schwingen bringt - ihr Gesang wird gefleht, geformt, geflüstert. Dabei horcht sie tief in sich hinein, als würde sie ihre Seele befragen - rau, kraftvoll und zugleich zart und durchlässig. Gesungen auf Englisch und Paschtu/Afghaani entwickelt ihre Musik eine Intensität, die zutiefst berührt. Gemeinsam mit ihrem New Quartet um Harpreet Bansal (Geige), Björn Meyer (Bass) und Samuel Rohrer (Drums) kreiert Simin eine Klangwelt voller Mystik und leidenschaftlicher Freiheit.
Die Sängerin und Komponistin ist u.a. bekannt für Ihr Album mit Tord Gustavsen (What Was Said, ECM), für welches sie auch den Jahrespreis der Schallplattenkritik bekam, und ihr aktuelles Album Unfading (Jazzhaus).

We are more than happy to announce that Simin Tander is joining our artist roster!
When the German-Afghan woman starts to sing, much more happens than just setting her vocal cords in motion – her singing becomes imploring, sculpted, whispered. In doing so, she listens deeply within, as if consulting her soul—raw, powerful, yet simultaneously delicate and permeable. Sung in English and Pashto/Afghani, her music develops an intensity that deeply moves. With her New Quartet around Harpreet Bansal (violin), Björn Meyer (bass) and Samuel Rohrer (drums), Simin creates a world of sound full of mystique and passionate freedom.
The singer and composer is known for her album with Tord Gustavsen (What Was Said, ECM), for which she also received the Record Critics‘ Annual Award, and her current album Unfading (Jazzhaus). She is currently nominated for the German Jazz Award 2024 in the category Vocal and is working on a new album which shall be released in spring 2025.

Ceasefire Now.

We have to do better than this. There must come an immediate end to killing after killing, to moving from one huge trauma to creating the next.
There must be an immediate end to letting this happen out of fear or guilt or anything else. There is no solution in violence after violence. It adds and adds up to an unfathomable huge horror that will only feed the hatred and the need for revenge.
We should know better than this. Much better.
We should be wiser. Stop the killing. Ceasefire Now.

We will rehearse and dive into new material for our upcoming album AND play a concert at the wonderful !

Come and join our first Munich- concert on Maundy Thursday (Gründonnerstag), there is no better way to start the Eastern drama than with contemplative, soul- searching music I would say. ❤️

Two concerts in Norway this week! 🇳🇴❤️

Very happy to be on the stage with “... as a seal on your heart” again.
A special performance with actor Svein Tindberg and pianist Tord Gustavsen in Biri Church and the Cathedral of Tromsø. 😍

Texts from the Bible’s love poetry in Solomon’s Song of Songs meet Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. A powerful journey in love, longing, union, separation, death and hope.

Feeling grateful to be performing with Norway’s most celebrated monologue and narrative actor Svein Tindberg in interaction with one and only Tord Gustavsen. Together we build a unique whole with a condensed atmosphere. There are wordless vocals, beautiful lullaby themes, mysterious soundscapes - and above all, a text message that opens up the big perspectives in ways that come very close and touch deeply.

Big thank you to my band and all the musicians I have shared the stages with.

Singing to me means to sing my heart, the struggle, the release, to float like an endless sound and to deeply connect to what lies beyond and beneath.
I’m so happy that I’m able to do that, pursuing my journey as a vocalist further and further. And now this nomination feels like a beautiful reward of my path where I never gave into half- compromises but always went for the sound that felt true to me, to the music in me.

I‘m grateful to be the guest of the 5th edition, contributing with my mixed background, Pashto songs and poetry, contemporary and western music.

It will be wonderful to meet these musicians for the first time and create something beautiful!

Finally some more footage of this incredible journey I was lucky to make!
I met such kind, warm- hearted people, played with such fantastic musicians (Kurdish, French, German, Dutch),
learned and performed some beautiful Kurdish songs,
shared my own music with an open-minded crowd consisting of many young women who gave the most touching responses. 🙏🏼🙏🏼

Also, I deeply enjoyed walking the streets, discovering the city and eating delicious food! 😍
