Who is Call It Bliss?
Call It Bliss is an American Punk/Grunge/Alternative crossover band from New Braunfels, Texas. The band was formed by Ethan Pszanowski and Brodie Harris under the name Darkness Rising. Over the next several years the lineup would change several times, and with it, the name.
Originally called Darkness Rising, the band was founded by guitarist/vocalist Ethan Pszanowski and drummer Brodie Harris on December 25th, 2016. The band was a metal band, influenced by bands like Slipknot and Gojira. After a long, unsuccessful series of attempts to rehearse, Brodie left the band. Ethan spend the following three months working on his own musicianship. In March of 2017, Brodie would rejoin Darkness Rising, now called Iron Flame. The band would stay together until the following December. However after another long time of not rehearsing, Brodie again left the band, this time for good.
In July of 2018, Ethan invited his sister (guitarist Lauren Pszanowski) into Iron Flame, as one final attempt to start a band. Together they worked mostly on writing songs, while Ethan attempted to recruit a drummer and bassist. When Ethan started freshman year he met Josh Roberts. He eventually recruited Josh as a bassist, and shortly after found Mason Groff, also a bassist. Josh switched over to drums, and the lineup was set. They re-branded to Call It Bliss, and quickly began working towards recording.
As soon as summer break hit, the band began rehearsing weekly, practicing in Ethan's bedroom. The band got a set list together, and working on perfecting it. They recorded a cover of "He**in" by Badflower, and released it on Spotify. Shortly after the release of He**in the band started working on original content. After writing 7 songs, they started recording their first album, "In Hate", but shortly stopped, and decided to take a few steps back. They work on perfecting their music, and by the end of summer, released their first single "Where?" globally. Shortly after the school year started, Mason announced that he was resigning from the group for personal reasons. The remaining members started working on the EP "HighSkewl", while they searched for a new bass player. After no success the band decided to roll without a bassist. From then on, Ethan would play bass guitar in recordings, and they would play key bass parts on a pitched down guitar live.
Currently the band is working on the "HighSkewl" EP, and doing live shows in and around New Braunfels.
