WE'VE GOT A PROMO CODE!

So we are super stoked to announce that local company Creek To Peak has come on board as a sponsor for us! They've got some rad stuff that you should check out, and keep your eyes peeled for our new t-shirt that we designed with their help.

Obviously, it's the holiday season, and this is a great place to find some sweet Montana gear for your families! Luckily for you, we have a promo code! Plug in 'wild', and get a 20% discount on your purchase. 3% of each sale goes back to the club.

Home - Creek to Peak Wear Hands down the most comfortable shirt I own! Great for wearing to the gym or around town. It fits nice and has held up better than any t-shirt I’ve had (especially considering how much I wear it). I will definitely be buying more! Oh, and the customer service was crazy good!

Check it out! Stoked about all the awesome opportunities we have at MSU to do really cool stuff outside, and work to make a change in the world. Pretty frickin' neat.

As a Bozemanite born and bred, fighting for wild places has always come naturally to me. As I’ve grown older, I’ve found that this penchant for outdoor activism is as easy ...

Voting season is here, and public lands are, as always, threatened. Our local legislators freely admit that they read the opinion page of the newspaper before anything else.

What say we mob 'em with letters to the editor, and keep our public lands in public hands?

Meeting at 6pm on Thursday, October 18th in Jake Jabs room 111.

This is your chance to get wild with us and advocate for the outdoors in an awesome group setting. See you there.

Hey Wild Collective!
We had our first wild outing of the year. We learned a lot and are psyched to do more like it. Thank you everyone who came and made it more than just a hike for Augie and I. You made it an adventure.
We have another Wild Wednesday planned this week at cooper park around 5pm. I’ll be there with every frisbee I own (3 or 4) and a slack line. It’s not far but it’s kinda wild with all the dogs there (good Pups are encouraged).
There we’ll talk about our next trip to the Big Snowies and other adventures that interest you.

Here’s a photo on top of Mt. Blackmore from the other weekend

MSU Students Take Action for Public Lands

Montana State University students have been strong advocates for conservation in the past few semesters. They rallied for public lands at the Capitol in Helena in January, held on-campus discussions to educate their peers on local conservation and environmental issues, hosted State Sen. JP Pomnichowski for a discussion on public land transfer, testified in front of legislative committees, attended forest planning meetings and submitted comments, screened a documentary to educate other students on the fight for the Badger-Two Medicine, and spent countless hours registering their peers to vote in Montana and pledging to vote to keep public lands in public hands.

The Montana Wild Collective (formerly MSU Wild) student organization is a perfect representation of this next generation of conservation advocates. Montana Wild Collective members act as youth ambassadors for statewide conservation nonprofit, Montana Wilderness Association. They take action by communicating with, and inspiring, their peers to get outside and be active advocates for wild places. Many freshman take their first steps in the Lee Metcalf Wilderness on a Montana Wild Collective organized hike. By helping facilitate these experiences, we can solidify the values of quiet recreation and conservation. These wild places become essential parts of both the physical and mental health of many in our communities, and students are no different. They provide clear water and air to the Gallatin valley, some of the most pristine wildlife habitat in the lower 48, and an essential backbone to Montana’s booming outdoor recreation economy.

In that vein, Montana Wild Collective strives to provide those opportunities to experience the awe-inspiring beauty of Montana’s wildlands via human-powered recreation. Wild groups have ventured into the Bob Marshall and Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness areas, headed south to Grand Staircase-Escalante National Park for spring break, and spent countless hours exploring our incredible backyard; the Gallatin, Bridger, Crazy, and Madison ranges.

In the coming months, Montana Wild Collective has many opportunities planned for students to get involved in both public lands advocacy, outdoor adventure, and skills-building trainings. These events include a winter survival skills course, a civic engagement and advocacy training, a GPS (cell phone or traditional device) training with a field day, helping plan the future of the Custer Gallatin National Forest, an overnight trip to a local forest service cabin in the Crazy Mountains, attend outdoor film fests, host an Earth Day bash on public lands, group hikes throughout the spring, trips to natural hot springs, and a whole lot of Wild Wednesday potlucks and interesting speakers from local and national conservation organizations. We aim to create a community of students focused on having fun in Montana’s wildlands while making sure we can pass that outdoor way of life on to generations of Montana State students.
