This is fun! :) Chin Ho! sent another unfinished demo. I added the slinky opening and astral guitars and the backing vocals and sent it back. Enjoy.

TURTLES OUT THERE OMG
OH man I got one of those cheesy 360° cameras!
In the late nineties, I was in a Vermont rock band called Chin Ho! and they've reunited, at least briefly, hopefully not so briefly - anyway, Andrew X Smith sent me this unfinished demo a few months back saying "I think this needs something", so I did my whole guitarscape/backing vocal thing and sent it back, and they decided to post it! First time "playing together" in 25 years. Enjoy!
I have begun my Sparks faves playlist, which will grow:

I just wanted to say thanks for the birthday wishes. I'm glad so many of you can tolerate me ❣️
I was briefly featured on Airtalk on KPCC this morning - they asked for an on air interview but their console was all screwed up and I was driving. Story of my life. They read a brief summary of my comment on air. Anyhoo...
Long story short, the bit was about the long history of men having trouble finding real friendships with other men. As I told the call screener, I feel lucky that in my teens I stepped outside the typically masculine pursuits of sports (and being basically sh*tty) and took up music, and that through that artistic medium I've been lucky enough to see men at their most powerful and vulnerable. Not to say I haven't been sh*tty.
Creativity is unbelievably important, available to everyone, and it's one of the few things this floundering species can really pull off. Beyond that, I might have said on air, it's a bridge between the masculine and the feminine, and all the other divides. We can all create, and with wildly different results, and when we come together to collaborate we'll always learn more about each other and open up emotional avenues that may have been discouraged in our youth - just by creating together.
I was overjoyed to hear the resident expert acknowledge, after my summarized comment, that even the act of being creative or stepping outside the "manly" box has long been derided among straight men and straight-raised boys as being somehow "gay", and that this bizarre phenomenon has scared straight men (or those who desperately need to be seen as straight men) away from such pursuits. "Art is gay, play football" is never outright stated anymore, or I friggin' hope it isn't, but that was a real sentiment growing up in the 80's. These days I'm happily making music with people of all sexual persuasions (except right-wingers because honestly they're not good at it, come on guys) and the rewards are endless.
I do worry, as the political right seeks to narrow what can and should be taught in the areas they control, that this will become more and more divisive. "Traditional" to me reeks of toxicity. All genders should feel. All genders should talk about those feelings and express them. All genders should pick up instruments and learn to make music, pick up a brush and paint, pick up a pen and write. All of us should be encouraged to do these things. We should all shout, beautifully.
TL;DR - every single one of us has the potential to create, and every other one of us should be encouraging every other one of us to do so. We won't get famous, but that process of creation leads to humanity in its finest form.
Thank you, Burak Gündoğdu , for this interview and for really delving into this album. It means a lot.
