Poor Boys Bass Club is an electric motor bass fishing club located in Central VA.

Due to circumstances beyond the club's control, Friday's tournament will not be held at Beaverdam Swamp. An email will be sent shortly with the location.
Any non-members planning to fish, please review all rules and fees and contact us on here so we can have a general idea of how many to expect. Fish On!
Tournament Rules
• $30 entry fee per team ($50 for two day)
• $10 per boat Big Bass (optional)
• $10 per boat Trash fish (optional)
• Largemouth bass, smallmouth bass (tournament fish)
• Trash fish ,slot limits apply
• Each location has specific rules listed under tournament schedule
• Fish caught by hook and line
• No Trolling
• All fishing must be done from boat
• No leaving boat for tournament advantage
• No live bait or cut bait
• No gas motors (specifics per location)
• No electric outboard (example;Panther, Torqeedo, RayEO)
• 5 Bass limit per boat
• Registration closes 15 min. prior to start
• Tournament will begin on time or safe light
• Live wells will be checked before tournament
• Numbered chips will be drawn before tournament for weigh in
• Late arrivals must be checked by a board member before fishing
• Official practice days, Saturday and Sunday, after Friday lake pick (lake is off limits to practice fishing or being on lake between Official practice days and tournament (4 to 8 days)
• Set tournaments off limits to practice or be on lake 7 days prior
• Weigh in chips must be turned into coffee can to be checked in(1 lb per minute late check in, 5 lb max, then DQ.)
• Lightning is the only weather condition we don’t fish in (decision made by board)
• 5 minute window for weigh in per team, weigh in time start determined by board, Team has 5 minutes to put fish on scale after previous team finishes weigh in.
• Late to weigh in = DQ
• Dead fish at weigh in are4oz penalty( fish must be released alive)
• Fish have 60 seconds to swim away to qualify to be alive
• 1 pound penalty for each minute late to weigh in
• Fish weighed together in basket/ Big Bass weighed individual
• All on water rules follow VADGIF, Ticket during tournament = DQ
• Any cheating or rule breaking will result in automatic disqualification, And subject to club membership termination reviewable by board
• All rules subject to change or rules added by board vote
• NO REFUNDS
Poor Boys Bass Club is a member’s only bass fishing tournament club. We are an electric trolling motor only club. Electric outboards are not allowed (example; Panther, Torqeedo ,RayEO and other brands voted by board). We will hold seven tournaments a year, and a Big Bass Bash. There will be payouts at each tournament. There will be a season points system; top three teams in season points receive trophies.
We will hold two members only (or member fill in) tournaments, all others will be open to guest teams. Members weigh in first and season points are awarded prior to non-member weigh in for tournament.
Two person teams are most common but not required (2 person max). One person from your team is required to fish, to receive season points. If a team member is absent you are allowed fill ins or fish solo.
Membership dues will be $50. Per person. This will include a t-shirt, sticker and eligibility for all tournaments. There will be a $10. Non-member fee per tournament(open or fill-in). There is an optional big fish of the year(weight) $10. Per person.
Each tournament will be $30. Per boat, Two day tournament is $50 per boat. Payout depends on number of boats, 5 or less(1,2) 10 or less(1,2,3) 11-15(1,2,3,4) 16-20 (1,2,3,4,5) There is an optional big fish(weight) contest,$10 per boat. There is an optional trash fish(weight) contest $10 per boat (heaviest non bass fish)slot limit apply.
The season points system is based on 10 point scale, or 1 point sliding scale for less than 10 boats. 1st=10, 2nd=9, 3rd=8, 4th=7, 5th=6, 6th=5, 7th=4, 8th=3, 9th=2, 10th=1, 11th on = 0. Zero fish to weigh = 0 points. One point will be awarded for Big Bass of each tournament.
In the event of a weight tie, tie breaker goes to big fish(tournament) In the event of a points tie at end of the year, tie breaker goes to total weight for year. A double points chip will be placed in chip can at each tournament, chips to draw from will be double the boats .(example: 10 boats =20 chips plus bonus chip)

The main park entrance is located on Route 616 off Route 17 at Gloucester in Gloucester County. The ranger station, main boat ramp, and fishing pier can all be found at the main park area.
