Now here's a real problem in the movie.

The 1961 Papakura Brass Band has 4 people in the Shiralee niteclub gig who do backup vocals and play brass, which they do very, very well, getting 2 pounds for their participation. You've gotta remember that a gallon of petrol cost about 40 cents of our 2015 money! Jamie gets involved with the band in a real way teaching them a new marching style which he adds a kind of a big band/orchestra feel. Simply - he teaches them how to play James Last style and then, they have to march to it. They enter the New Zealand 1961 Brass Band Championships (another complication: AFTER the main group of 4 have got back to 2005) and clean up! doing things their new way. Here is the problem......we have to transform a traditional brass band into a orchestral sounding unit, BUT! still marching as the Papakura Brass band. Here's where we want to get to with this James Last sound-look. Is it toooooooo hard?....AND on top of that really tricky marching.....go on YOU try and march to that!!!

.....when the '2005 time-warpers' were back in 1961, they get involved with the 1961 local Kaiaua community, where they teach the local school kids about flashmobbing. There's only one shopping centre in Auckland, St Lukes. So for 6 days after school they teach 60 of the kids, Abba's Mama Mia. They managed to con the St Lukes management to use their public address sound system and play the backing track they recorded (on an old-old-old tape recorder) where they were staying.........a bit rough, but it did the job. The live reaction from the St Lukes shoppers was amazing....the people were blown away by the impromptu Saturday morning performance. ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha!.......forgot to tell you this bit. During their afternoon practise for their Sunday nite gig, Fernando, the Shiralee nightclub manager was monitoring their music from the back of the club and suggested that the vocals was a bit loud and he couldn't hear the drums properly, sorta unbalanced as the guitars and voices drowned them out. So they did the last 10 bars of that piece of again with the music turned down a couple of notches. At the end of it, Cameron, the drummer casually asked into the niteclub background, "can you hear the drums Fernando?" which brought the 4 2005 timewarpers into fits of laughter and breaking into this song, looking at each other and constantly laughing and giggling all the way thru .......https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jHYn7LHV7fg

W-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-y back in 1961 the main group of Kaiaua time warpers from 2005 went back (got 'transported') to 1961 Kaiaua, and put together a band of 5 people plus the backing of some members of the Papakura Brass Band as their brass/vocal section. They did a 40 minute gig in Auckland's Shiralee nightclub, after practising for about 3 weeks and recruiting a local (1961) Portuguese girl who could play flamenco. Here's the Gypsy Kings 1995 version of 'Volare' they did on the floorshow....remember, the song is what??? 30 years BEFORE it's release!!! not bad for fallas from Kaiaua eh? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=whGSMAeUs4Y
