Edit: The church found a black and white bag containing ‘tankards’ in the main hall upstairs. We do not have a photo of the item.

MISSING: A scroll is missing! It was last seen in the main hall upstairs, inside a pair of pieces of cardboard serving as a scroll case. It was a larger scroll, and is of great value to the recipient. Does anyone have any knowledge of what have become of these pieces of cardboard on a table in the main hall?

Harts and Horns will also see the inaugural Magister John Marshall ate Ford Memorial Cooking Competition.

John Marshall was a beloved member of our local community and an avid cook. This first memorial competition will focus on pies, details for entry May be found on the event announcement (East Kingdom Calendar).

Along with our Arts and Sciences circle at Harts and Horns, we’ll also have a spot with medieval games!

This spot will include a selection of games, as well as a volunteer to help instruct you if you need or want a lesson.

As we continue getting ready for we are delighted to announce that there will also be an Arts and Sciences spot for interested people. Maybe you finished your run in the tournament and want to check out something new, or maybe you want to enjoy some of the tournament but a need a quiet space to retire to at times…this space will be great for both! Enjoy some time with fellow artisans and maybe learn something new.

The second annual Harts and Horns is delighted to be hosting East Kingdom Rapier Champs! The event will be happening in November 11th, and all details, including the tournament format, can be found in the event page on the East Kingdom website.

Dance practice will meet this Friday, September 22nd, from 7:30 - 9 pm at Jeffersonville Presbyterian Church, 1921 West Main Street, Norristown, PA 19403.

If you are interested and want to know what each job entails please ask!

If you wish to run for any of these offices, please submit a Letter of Intent to [email protected] prior to the October Meeting. The letter should include your modern and SCA Names, your membership number and expiration date and your email address (preferably member #.eastkingdom.org).

If you are elected and approved by the corresponding Kingdom-level Officer, you will work with the outgoing Officer (if applicable) and assume the office in February after the end of year report is submitted.

This message will be cross-posted to various channels in an effort to reach as many people in Hartshorn-dale as possible.

I write to you tonight on behalf of His Highness and myself to try to extend some transparency to the baronial polling. This past week Matthias and I had the opportunity to interview both sets of baronial candidates and solicit feedback. We had a great discussion with two very good sets of candidates.

We know many are frustrated with having to do a second polling for the baronial seats as well with the numerous issues that have been pointed out regarding the member lists from Society. We have read all past documents, emails, commentary, and recommendations from the time that your group petitioned for a change in status and continue to listen to feedback that has been shared from the Kingdom Seneschal. I do want to take a moment to call out the issue of some paid members not receiving ballots as that has been a source of stress for many folks. Due to the polling irregularities, this second poll is being conducted by the KSen office and therefore must be handled centrally through that office and their processes. They have been working tirelessly to get this completed but have also run into the problem where the Society list of who is or is not a paid member does not accurately reflect who received a ballot. As this is a problem with the list received from Society, they are working with what information they have available. Their Majesties, His Highness, and I have all discussed the issue with the Seneschal and her office.

While I cannot offer immediate solutions, what I can share is that we are actively discussing the problem as this potentially affects more than just Hartshorn-dale’s baronial polling. We are taking this very seriously and ask for patience while we work through this. In the meantime, folks are free to continue to send their feedback as we do read all emails. I only ask that folks give a little bit of grace when sharing their thoughts. Everyone involved is a volunteer and doing their best in this situation.

At Pennsic, His Highness will be holding office hours on Thursday August 3rd in EK Royal from 1-3pm. After everyone is home from Pennsic, we both hope to have more information to share. Again, we hear you. We are actively discussing the situation and will update as soon as we have news.
