The 'Second Hometown' project, through the free magazine Enjoy Kyoto and its website, was created to show foreign visitors the charms of this amazing city.

Imagine for a moment. What if you came across a city that made you feel as happy and as comfortable as you do in your own hometown? You could make friends here that you feel completely at home with. The amazing world of Washoku

This Spring, why not explore the world of Japanese cuisine through a selection of some 50 hyper-real illustrations by artist Jumpei Kawamura, entitled “WASHOKU”.

His creative three-dimensional-like culinary depictions appeared in last year’s bilingual publication, 'An Illustrated Guide to Japanese Food’ by Mikako Sawada. From sushi, to tempura, okonomiyaki, donburi, dashi stock, sake and wagyu beef, there is an astonishing variety of both iconic and lesser known dishes found in Japanese food culture that take on a new sense of life when experienced visually.
