Dundee Curling Club

What a fantastic start to our 224th season as Dundee Curling Club! Not only have we welcomed eight new members but that includes Phoenix Davies who also plays for 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🥌 England Junior Women’s team. She’s moved to Dundee from Kent recently to study at University.

Next week she’ll be in Finland 🇫🇮 to take part in the World Junior B Championships as a member of Team WODMAK. I’d encourage you all to follow their progress from 8 to 19 Dec’23.

The England Curling Association have sponsored their participation but they also have a GoFundMe page for anyone who’d like to support them with travel costs. Link in comments below.

The Lord Provost attended the final Curling Bonspiel of the season at the Dundee Ice Arena. He made a small speech and gave out the end of season trophies.

🗣️“This was a fantastic event and I was delighted to be in the company of so many friendly people. I did not appreciate that the Dundee Curling Club was founded as long ago as 1800 and there were other clubs participating founded in the 1800’s. Dundee has quite a few curling clubs and I wish them all great success going forward.”

With only days to go before the Winter Olympics kick off come along and try one of the Games more popular sports.

International Bonspiel Update: due to ongoing travel and COVID uncertainties it has been decided that unfortunately we will NOT proceed with the Stranraer Bonspiel this year.

However we are pencilled in again for 17-19 Feb 2023. Dates for your diaries in the hope 🤞that normality has resumed! Thanks to Alasdair for all his efforts and the understanding shown by Gail at North West Castle hotel! 🥌👏

First one of the season I believe. An excellent 8-ender scored by Edzell CC today when playing in their Inglis Cup League. The team of Sandra Ferguson, Russell Brown, Bob Myles & Ian Warden were delighted with their worthy achievement.
