We are very excited to announce Camp Diabetable: Cape Town! Our first diabetic camp in over two years.

The camp will take place from the 22-24 April at the Soetwater Environmental Centre: We have a wonderful programme planned and are looking forward to seeing everyone again. Download your camp forms here! https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1H0nttCODNnSNnuW-vayS88V5PcIesY6o?usp=sharing

We will have a camp doctor and 5 nurses on the camp but if parents are unsure of sending their T1 diabetic child alone, we would welcome them coming along as parent volunteers. Please email [email protected] if you would like to come along as a volunteer.

If you are a T1 diabetic adult and interested in volunteering as a leader, please send your name, contact details and a little bit about yourself to [email protected] or [email protected].

Excited to announce: Diabetes Psychology Groups for children and adolescents with Type 1 Diabetes!

I would like to call on the collective wisdom of parents:

*What are the topics or issues that are most important for your young ones to cover in a diabetes psychology group?*

Of course, I have some ideas of my own, based on personal experience and the literature on diabetes and mental health. But, before the content is finalized, I would be deeply appreciative for your input on this important topic.

Please email your thoughts to: [email protected]

If you would like to be kept in the loop regarding the groups as they start to come together, please comment or DM me your email address.

About the facilitators: I am a clinical psychologist and a Type 1 Diabetic of 30 years. The groups will be co-facilitated by the wonderful Jessica Sher: speech-language therapist and spouse of a PWD.

Groups will begin in person in Cape Town from March.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Daniel and Jessica

We Can Make an Impact. 08/02/2022

Hello all! 🌞

We know that petitions are a pain, but Sweet life have spent the last few days editing the most heartbreaking testimonials about how sensor technology can change lives, and they want to submit a petition at the same time as their appeal to the Council for Medical Schemes.

Please can you sign this petition and help better the lives of all T1 diabetics in South Africa ? No need to contribute anything (if they ask), just a signature. https://chng.it/9PZZNq2vwB

They have until Thursday to submit it, so ideally today if possible ☺️

Thank you so much!! πŸ™πŸ»
