Wishing everyone a very Happy Makarsankrant 🌱🌱

Please be careful while gorging on tilguls as they are extremely sticky and hard . Refrain from chewing them from the side of your mouth with crowns , caps or any fractured or mobile tooth as that will surely send you to a dentist today 😬😬

Have them along with meals rather than by themselves to neutralize the acid produced by the jaggery .

Oh ! And enjoy 😉

Keep Warm
Using a blanket or putting on a jacket when stepping out into the winter cold are things you're probably doing already. But for people with TMJ disorder, staying warm can help minimize jaw pain. It is normal for joints and muscles to tense up when experiencing colder weather. Ensure you are keeping warm with a scarf or sweater to reduce clenching or tightening the jaw area.

Also remember to take good care of your oral health too. Keep moisturized and hydrated, as this will prevent chapped lips and alleviate dry mouth. Use desensitizing toothpaste if you have sensitive teeth. Knowing how to maintain your oral health during colder weather will reduce the likelihood of experiencing common mouth issues ❄️

18/12/2021

Use Fluoride Toothpaste for Sensitive Teeth
Do you experience a short, sharp pain in your teeth when trying to enjoy your favorite winter hot beverage? Broken down tooth enamel leaves dentin, the tissue beneath it, exposed. When this part of the tooth comes in contact with hot, cold, or acidic foods and drinks, it can cause discomfort. Cold temperatures, air, and wind can leave your teeth feeling uncomfortable too.

Daily Winter tips for a healthy mouth 🦷. Tip no 1 - Drink Water 💦
Xerostomia (dry mouth) is an oral condition marked by insufficient saliva in the mouth. This can be caused by certain types of medication and medical treatments like radiation and chemotherapy. Dry winter air may worsen this, so be sure to stay hydrated by drinking water throughout the day.

Happy Diwali 😄😄🌟

We see many advertisements on TV recommending that we use fluoride products either toothpastes or mouthwashes.
But what exactly is fluoride ? How is it beneficial for our teeth ?
First things first ! Fluoride is a mineral and it is naturally available in soil , water and also certain foods . But then why do we need fluoride from toothpastes and Mouth rinses ?
How does it help our teeth ?
Okay so to understand it we need to know how cavities are formed . Anytime we in-jest fermentable carbohydrates bacteria in the mouth consume it and produce acid as a by product . This acid dissolves the minerals ( calcium and phosphates ) from the teeth and literally brings it out of the tooth . End result eventually a cavity is formed . Our ever helpful saliva also contain some amounts of the cavity protecting minerals in it and it bathes the tooth so that the minerals can seep in and make the tooth stronger .
Now coming back to fluoride . Whenever we use products containing fluoride these fluoride ions become available in our saliva . It’s now available and ready to enter the tooth .
The bond formed by fluoride and calcium and phosphate ions is also fluorapatite and this new crystal structure is much stronger than just calcium and phosphate ions . It is much more resistant to avid attack .
The ADA ( American Dental Association) recommends brushing teeth twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste .
