Today I started cleaning my studio and the tears started flowing once again….
We always talk about how our business began…
As a way to keep us afloat and help us give Rufino (Peens) the best treatment possible, but now I think there were bigger things at play.
It may have begun that way but I truly believe Peens gave me this gift.
This outlet where I can create, a place I can go and imagine beautiful pieces that come to fruition. A way I could connect with my dad on a different level as I learn his craft. Where we chat endlessly about things we can make, what colours to add or how it could be functional.
A way I can be myself without having to hide.
A way I can be loud.
Thank you to my little pup. While I thought I created Peens and Co to save you… you seem to have created it to save me.
I still miss you every day Peens but I am so grateful for this gift you left for me. My safe space where you and I created together. ❤️
Peens & Co will be taking a break until the heart is a little less broken and can create once again.

Our gorgeous little champ is unfortunately still losing weight despite eating twice his body weight in food daily. We are waiting for some special recipes created especially for him from a pet nutritionist in New Zealand.
His back legs started collapsing New Year’s Day and he couldn’t stand for around 3 hours.
After a vet visit it seems he has luxating patella in his back legs. The left worse that the right.
will remain closed for the time being so we can spend as much time as possible with Peens and spoil him rotten.
Thank you so much for the support in 2022 and we hope you’ve all had an amazing start to 2023!

We only use vegetable tanned leather for our products. Every piece is cut by hand and it ages beautifully, making each piece as unique as your pup and you.
Why We Love Vegetable Tanned Leather…
While chrome tanned leathers are beautiful too, vegetable tanned leather has environmental and health benefits. It looks and feels beautiful with minimal impact on the environment.
While chrome tanning is quick and efficient, it’s a much less sustainable option. It has a high concentration of toxic chemicals. Because vegetable tanning uses natural tannins, there’s little to no environmental concerns involved with this process.
Without chemicals, vegetable-tanned leather is better for the earth, it’s better for the workers producing it, and it’s better for your pet.
